I finally had time to finish listening to the 7/27 podcast today. I was thinking towards the end how grateful I was to be able to listen to a young man like Ben...how amazing it is that folks like you guys exist. Pete and John who have a business that sponsors a podcast that thinks it's important to give a voice to an issue like Asperger's and Autism. Kevin, who is our (folks with disabilities and chronic illnesses) greatest champion. Julie and Cory who are raising such great kids so well, and the way that they have the love and support of everyone on the podcast team. The list could go on and on and on.
No doubt some jerk will label this a kissing up post. Feel free. Call it what you like. I've never met anyone on the team, though I will in December (yay!). The podcast team, and these boards, touch my heart. I found out last week that my kidneys have begun to fail. It's not clear how badly yet, nor do I have any idea how quickly things will get ugly. I'm still hoping things will go slowly (like years) and frankly still in a bit of denial. I never knew that Sjogren's even caused kidney disease until it caused mine. The point is, this group of strangers let me forget about my crap and think about others, they let me think about Disney which makes me happy (even though Disney can irritate me to no end, too), and most important, they give me laughs. For just a little while, they feel a little like family in a way that the cast of the Today Show, who I've started my mornings with for 35+ years feel a little like family because they've been there every day for so long.
I just want to say thank you for being the special people that you are, and for giving me this gift. I believe in karma, more or less, and hope that you will receive as much joy and support as you have given to this little Bug. The Bug wishes many blessings upon you.
