Hello,

I was wondering about a couple of things and I was hoping you could help.

We will be staying at OKW for 7 of our 10 nights on rented points as we are thinking about becoming members. So here are my questions:

1. Can you use your room key for charging like you can when you are a "cash" guest?

2. If so can you pay on reservation ahead of time. i.e. I send in 1000.00 to be put on my card for charging privileges ?( I want to surprise DH).

3. Do you take your car everywhere or only to the water parks, other resorts and DD?

4. Can I request extra towels? Does it cost extra to do so?

5. Are there any perks/privileges you get as a DVC member besides pool hopping?

6. Since I am renting will I be treated differently then a member?

Thank you in advance and I am sure you will all be sick of me by Nov! LOL.

You can give a credit card at check-in and the charge using your room key....just like the other resorts. Sending in cash might be a problem since you are not the member. It could get pretty confusing as to whose reservation should be getting the credit. You could ask about that. It might be possible.

I pretty much use the bus service for going to the parks and DD. Anything that requires a transfer, like resort to resort, I drive. Also driving to the water parks is the easiest.

The policy is that they can charge $6 for an additional set of towels. I'd be prepared to pay and grateful if there were no charge. If you are in a studio, there are washer/dryers by the pools. In one-bedrooms or larger you can just toss towels in the in-room w/d.

The DVC member perks are technically not available to those paying cash to rent points. I'm not DVC so I can't say how and when this is enforced...just what is written in the rules.

Once you're at OKW, everyone is treated the same....very well.

Whew, I will try to tacle this one.

1) Yes you can use your room key to charge. They will ask you at check in if you want that as an option, and they will take a major credit card imprint for that purpose. They will also ask you if the other guests or family members will have that option too.

2) I think you are asking if you can send in extra $ to Disney, so you can spend it while you are there. I don't know about that, I don't see why not, but why not just send it in to your credit card company instead, that way if you don't use it at Disney, you can use it anywhere ? Makes more sense to me.

3) We sue the buses for going to anywhere Disney. It is far more convienent, and it is free.

4) Yes you can request extra towels, and there is a modest charge.

5) Yes, there is a package of discounts avaiable for DVC members, and perks like pool hoping. They will give you the list when you check in as a DVC member staying on points.

6) Yes, because you are renting points, you will not be able to get any of the member perks. Other than that, hopefully you will be treat as any other Disney guest.

You've already gotten some good advice and answers to your questions.

I'll add a couple of comments also. You can certainly take cash with you to put on your account. I don't know about sending it in advance. (You can call and ask...1-407-827-7700).

The list of discounts will be provided at check-in. It is technically NOT for renters, but if your room ID states "DVC Member" you can test the waters. The worst which will happen is that you would be told it's not available.

Enjoy your trip.

if you want to do something other then the parks try downtown disney (formely known as "The Disney Village Marketplace"). Its a great place to relax and check out the shops but BEWARE if you start buying it gets very expensive. It has happened to me many times LOL..hope this helps enjoy ...dave:cool:

You've gotten most of your answers. I definitely would not send money ahead of time even if they say it's ok. As noted, technically renters aren't entitled to the perks but DVC is very lax in enforcing this. If your ID card says Member, you'll be able to get all of the perks available to members without questions asked. Should DVC enforce the difference, likely yes, but they don't.

If your ID says member, you should be treated the same as a member or a "guest of a member", if not, the only difference is the phone call charge, movie rentals and the modest discount differences.

I think the $6 charge is actually for a full towel Pack, not just an extra set.

Email me directly and I have a couple of other suggestions for you.
