Dear Disney Diary,

I am so excited! Today we have 47 days until we leave!! Can you believe it? It seems like it has only been yesterday when we booked the trip (it was actually February). Let’s see we booked the AAA Magic Moments Package with 7 nights at the POFQ, 7 day park hopper, and dining plan. We are also staying 2 nights beforehand at the La Quinta Inn on I-Drive and will be doing Universal then. We got the special $86 ticket for Universal, which saved us A LOT, so you better believe we will be spending those first 2 days at both the Universal Parks! We also got a FREE rental car! That’s right, I said FREE! We used points from our American Express Card to get a free rental at Avis for those 2 days we will be at Universal. More money on souvenirs now! Ahh, so much has happened within the past week and I still feel there is so much more to do before we go.

First off, I got a brand new kitten!

We decided to name her Minnie, after well, you know who. Of course, we didn’t really think about who would watch her when we went away, but now I am slightly worried. DBF’s parents willingly stepped up to the plate, but she is just a baby, and who will play with her when they are not home? I wish I could take her with me, I know she would have the best time!! I will just have to deal with it, and know she will be taken care of in a good place while we are gone…and I will be in Disney having the best time ever!

Oh Disney Diary, I am so excited to tell you this-we booked the Pirates and Princess Party for the last night we are in the World!!! This kind of happened as a fluke. I was checking times for MK the last night we will be there, as I always like to end my vacation with Spectro & Wishes and I noticed that the park closed at 7pm that night. I right away went straight to the source and posted on the DIS to see what was going on that night. Lo and behold it was the first night of the P&PP, back at MK for August. I immediately ordered tickets online and they just arrived on Friday!

This is so exciting and I certainly can not wait to go! The only question is do I dress up like a princess or a pirate….I’m thinking pirate.

Well Disney Diary, I have to say goodbye for now. I am heading out to celebrate Father’s Day with the fam for dinner. I will be back in a few days to fill you in on some more exciting stuff! I have also finalized my itinerary and will share that with you too. I am so excited!

Sincerely,

Erica

We live in Mineola. I used to work for the Syosset Central School District as a one-on-one with a little girl with autism. I too am going for my Masters in Ed/Spec Ed, Early Childhood. I already have a MA in Psychology. How is the autism field in Florida? I heard its a huge field there. In NY it is very difficult to work with children with autism unless you are a certified teacher (you prob know that)....

Yes the kitten is cute, isn't she? She is also a royal pain in the you know what sometimes...:scared1:

Small world. I just read they opened a school in Tampa for children I believe from 5 to 22 with autism. Where I am (outside Fort Lauderdale), they have autistic clusters in some schools. About 3 or 4 class just for students with autism or on the spectrum. There is a shortage of ESE (special ed) teachers here.

I am hoping to sub in the fall to get my foot in the door and find a school I like and apply if an opening after I graduate.

Dear Disney Diary,

Today was a little bit of a hectic day. I got to work and immediately had to work on the payroll for my staff. Of course I didn't have everyone's time sheets, so that made it semi-difficult. After that I had a meetin with my boss which lasted WAY too long because then I was late for my dentist appointment. However, when I got to the dentist's office (this is a new dentist), they did not have any record of me having scheduled an appointment for this day and time...hmm....this is my new dentist?!? Anyways, they were able to offer me another appointment tomorrow at the same time. I have not been liking any of my dentists lately and so far this one is off to a great start!

After the dentist fiasco I headed back to work, scarfed down my salad I had brought for lunch and finished out the day. After work I went to the gym and I swear personal trainers have to have some sort of sadistic mind to them because the fact that I had to do 12 arm curls with 5 lb weights while balancing on a ball and trying not to fall on my head really makes me think about the psychiatric condition of these people.

Boy do I need this vacation! Well the big question I am grappling with this week is whether to keep my dinner reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe the last night we are in the World. That is the night we are going to the P&PP and I wanted to eat dinner somewhere close to MK. However, since 1900 Park Fare is closed for rehab when we are there, I was told by the Disney dining agent that the Grand Floridian Cafe is offering a character dinner in place of 1900 Park Fare. I am one of those people that is not really into character meals so I don't think I will be keeping this ressie. I would really like to eat at Spoodles because the past 2 years we have tried to eat there but never made the time and the menu looks really yummy! Disney Diary, do you think we will have enough time to eat an early dinner at Spoodles and then take the bus over to MK? Or should I pick another restaurant closer to MK where we will have plenty of time?!? Oh the confusion! :confused3 I know you will steer me in the right direction Disney Diary.

Well that is all for today. I am too pooped to write anymore. Until next time...

Sincerely,

Erica

Is Spoodles at the Boardwalk? If so, then yes, I think that is plenty close enough...

If it a little farther away, then why not try for like a 4:45 sitting...that should give you plenty of time to get to the MK for the P&P Party, which starts at 7...:thumbsup2

Erica,

I named my kitty Minnie also.:thumbsup2

POFQ is great. You are going to love it!!!:goodvibes

I was there this past March and can't wait to go back next May.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your pre-trippie!:dance3:

Yes Spoodles is at the Boardwalk. I just remember from staying at Dolphin last year that the busses to MK take a long time...Well I think we will try to get an early dinner there. I really am not digging the character meal thing:eek:

Aww...isn't Minnie the best name for a little girl kitten?? I don't think she knows her name yet but I call her by it every day!

I am super excited about POFQ, everyone keeps telling me it is awesome!

Thanks for the kind words and I will write some more in a day or two ;)

If not Spoodles...what about Kona Cafe and then hope on the monorail to MK? Just another idea. Have not eaten at either.

We are eating at Kona Cafe earlier in the trip! Although, it may make sense to switch...hmm...

I will be posting the itinerary either today or tomorrow for all to see.

Dear Disney Diary,

I woke up REALLY tired this morning. I had a 9:00 meeting so was only able to hit the snooze button once. I actually got a lot done at work today, it was quite a productive day. Today for some reason, I was thinking alot about the night before we leave. Disney Diary, you know what I am talking about. When you shut everything down at work. Clean off your desk. Say goodbye to your co-workers, and walk out that door knowing in just one more day you will be in Disney! I think I was thinking about this because my desk is very messy and I keep saying to myself, 'you will clean it before you leave for vacation'.

But getting back to the night before...I have to say I think that is my second favorite part about going to Disney (the first being when you walk out of the plane into the Orlando Airport knowing you are FINALLY there!). But I like the night before because I do a lot of prep work. Of course there is last minute packing. But there is also the mousekeeping envelopes, finalizing the itinerary, making sure all documents are packed. I get a special 'feeling', maybe butteflies in my stomach...not sure. Oh just writing to you about it makes me happy!

Well Minnie (the kitten) has been a terror today. She shredded up the newspapers

002.jpg

However she is rather cute

Oh well, I trade cute for terror....

Well Disney Diary, its time to veg out in front of the couch and think about how I am one day closer to going to Disney!!

Sincerely,

Erica

Once you see your kitty's cute face, it is very easy to forget about all the shredding he did today..:goodvibes

I love the night before, too....I love checking off my list when things are packed or on my to do list, the night before.....

I also love in the morning...packing those last minute items...put on your makeup and then you can put it in your bag.....as you know the next time you will be using it, you will be in Sunny FL!!:cool1:

My Minnie like to climb on top of the refrigerator and stretch her paw in front of it and knock the magnets off... there is one magnet that looks like a clown and she thinks it's her friend or something. And today, she knocked over a plant on the windowsill. I was pretty mad at her today but all i have to do is look at that face and all is forgiven...untl she does something tommorow!!!:lmao:

Anyway, I still have over 10 months until my trip.:sad1:

Living vicariously through you for now!:lmao:
