Hello Dean and others, longtime lurker looking for opinions on II trades to the Caribbean. I have read your previous posts on good values but I believe there are a couple of new options available and was curious of your opinion.
In Jamaica the Franklyn D Resort and The Jamaica Inn.
In DR Cayena Beach Resort
The new Hyatt (Windward Pointe) in Key West

Are all the Hyatts (Key West and PR) OK?
Are all the Royals in Cancun equal?
Thanks for your help,
Ken

All the Hyatt's in KW are great, PR is an issue. I believe there is a member of this BBS that owns there, maybe they'll post. It would worry me given the variables. As for Jamaica and DR, I don't have any specific info on those resorts. None of those 3 are 5* resorts with II which makes me cautious. TUG should be a good place to get more info if you need to.

I stayed at the Hyatt Puerto Rico (Hacienda del Mar) once. It's really a nice resort with nice rooms, pools, beach, etc. It is somewhat outside San Juan.

However, since I stayed there, they have closed the adjacent Hyatt Cerromar hotel, which shared pool facilities, and had the casino, restaurants, etc. I'm not sure what the current status is, but I've heard they plan to convert the hotel to timeshares. I also think (but am not certain) they also closed the nearby Hyatt Dorado hotel.

I would definitely check with someone in the 'know' for more information.
Like Dean said, tug boards would be a good place.

I've also stayed at Hyatt Sunset Harbor and Hyatt Windward Pointe in Key West. Both are excellent. If location is your top priority, then Sunset Harbor should be your choice. (Sunset Harbor is right downtown off Duval street).
If the best accomodations are your top priority, then Windward Pointe should be your choice.
