Deals in February

My DH and I are trying to figure out if we can do a quick and somewhat cheap getaway. We have gone in August the past two years, and the weather is too miserable to go at that time ever again. I just can't bring myself to do it. So, we are now trying to decide when we are going to head back to WDW. We are thinking one of these times: 5 days, 4 nights in February 2017 (we'd only do 3 rushed park days) OR 7 days, 7 nights over Thanksgiving 2017 (with almost every day at the parks but much less rushed).

Can anyone tell me historically what deals are available in February? Free dining? 30% off hotels? (We never stay at the deluxes, and the moderates are a splurge for us - just FYI.) I know February sees low crowds, so I assume that Disney must be offering some deals during that time. I just never paid attention to them because February was never on my radar. I am open to going at any point during the month of February, so let me know usually which dates have which deals, if you know. If the deals just aren't good enough, we'll continue to save and wait until Thanksgiving 2017 when we can take a longer trip (and maybe get the rumored free dining!).

Thanks for helping me figure out what to do! :wave2:

Mousesavers. com has a list of Historical Discounts. http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

The last couple years there has been no winter free dining. It's been a stay, play, dine offer on packages. You won't find a 30% RO discount either, unless you're at a deluxe resort. 10-15% at the values or 20-25% at some of the mods, maybe.

Feb isn't as low crowd as it used to be. Have a read through easywdw.com's review of the best time to visit in Feb.

This is his month by month review for 2016:

I wouldn't bet on getting a discount for Thanksgiving. I think they're blacked out during the busiest weeks.

We've seen the room only offer and play stay dine. The room only offer didn't seem as good this year as in 2014, or maybe it was because prices increased quite a bit.

We used the RO offer in Jan 2014. It was 30% off at CR, and I think 15% at AOA (split stay). In Feb 2016 we used PSD. We upgraded to the regular dining plan and stayed at Sports. We loved CR, but felt we got better value out of the PSD. I don't think I'd buy the dining plan at full price, but we saved about $600 for 5 of us using it, and I think that was a much better value than getting a % off a deluxe. That's for us though.

As much as I liked CR much more than Sports, we literally just slept/showered/got ready in the room. I think the whole time there was spent maybe a half hour down time inside the room (not counting eating at the resort or swimming). Same with CR in 2014, we spent so little time in the room, it wasn't really "worth" it to us. Although wishes from the room was awesome, but we felt obligated to be there since we paid for it, losing out on a few hours of park time the few days we were there.

February = save for moderate to avoid the Big Tour groups at values. Depending on dates you could get discount at value season rates.

The first part of February is value season and some of the cheapest rates of the year. The low rate usually ends before President's weekend or earlier if Mardi Gras is early. Early February can have cold weather, too. The crowds aren't too bad at all and if you aren't interested in going swimming, then this is a good time to go to WDW. There are usually room discounts for this time period.

The week of Thanksgiving will be very crowded and I would avoid it. The room rates are high, too.
