Deals, discounts, and coupon codes

Jann1033 and LoraJ, thanks for the info. I just found an online course for elements 4 through our local rec dept that I think I am going to take. They don't offer one on elements 5 yet so I think I will start with 4 and go from there.

:) Anyone know of any sales? I need a couple more for my H5, leaving in 2 weeks!
TIA!

Saw some on sale at Circuit City. Also, our local BJ's had some. I actually found that my full-sized memory stick pros hold more pictures than the duo for some reason. My 2GB memory stick pros hold 810 pictures in Fine mode. I tried a friend's 2gb memory stick duo pro and it only held about 780 pictures

I didn't buy the Sony brand for my H5- just the SanDisk brand. There are some awesome deals come Black Friday at Office Max but sorry that doesn't help you much.

Just wanted to make sure you knew that you didn't need to get the Sony brand- others are much usually cheaper and go on sale more often ;)

I bought a SanDisk 2gb Pro Duo for the wife's PSP a couple weeks ago, and the best price I could find at the time was $59 (with shipping) from NewEgg.

It stung after paying $20 for a high-speed 2gb SD card, but what can ya do?

Frys.com(no longer OUTPOST), always has decent prices.

I did a search for stick duo, and a Sony branded 4gb came up for $84.

i went to circut city last night and bought a 512 mb ultra sandisk card for 59.99 with a 50.00 mail in rebate.... so i end up paying 9.99 for it. just thought id let everyone know..... good till sat. not sure if its everywhere but im in ohio vicki

OK, the answer I was looking for was in the S3 product description:

Successor to the popular PowerShot S2 IS, the latest addition to the PowerShot S-series incorporates a 6.0-megapixel CCD sensor, Canon's renowned optical Image Stabilizer technology, and video functionality rivalling that of dedicated digital video camcorders. Sporting a striking new finish in gunmetal grey, the compact PowerShot S3 IS answers the demands of advanced photographers with several improvements over its predecessor, including an increased sensitivity range of ISO 80 to ISO 800, a larger 2.0-inch vari-angle LCD screen, widescreen (16:9) recording, new movie features, and an additional Sports mode.
Definitely worth the $25 difference in price, I'm sure. Opinions, anyone? I know both of these cameras are very popular here.

I am in the market for a new camera also.
I have been thinking of the S3, anyway I went to check out the links you sent. It looks like to get the rebate for the S3 you have to purchase a printer AND the camera.
Just thought I would let you know.

I just called Amazon.com to verify you do not need to buy the printer with the camera in order to get the rebate.

Really? Wow! That is a really nice price for a S3 then, especially with the free shipping.

I would be a little leary of the rebate though, even if the customer care person says you didn't need to purchase a photo printer. Here is a copy of the mail in rebate for the $50.00.
I bolded where it says both are needed.

How the offer works:
1. Purchase a new Canon PIXMA iP4300, iP6310D, iP6700D, iP90, mini260, MP160, MP460, MP510, MP530, MP600,
MP810, MP830, MP960 Photo Printer or All-In-One or SELPHY DS810 Photo Printer and ANY Canon PowerShot Digital
Camera at Amazon.com between November 14, 2006 and November 27, 2006.

2. Completely fill out all of the information requested on this claim form.
3. Cut out the original “Proof of Purchase” 12-digit UPC barcode from the Canon Photo Printer or All-In-One box AND the
original “Proof of Purchase” 12-digit UPC barcode cut from the Canon PowerShot Digital Camera box (see sample below)
.
4. Attach a legible copy of your sales receipt showing the Canon Photo Printer or All-In-One purchased together with the
Canon PowerShot Digital Camera with the date of purchase and the purchase prices.

5. Circle the qualifying purchases on the receipt.
6. Make copies of all required documentation for your records.
7. Mail the completed rebate claim form, original “Proof of Purchase” 12-digit UPC barcode cut from the Canon Photo
Printer or All-In-One and PowerShot Digital Camera box,
and a legible copy of your Amazon.com sales receipt to the
address below:

For just an extra $25 definitely go for the S3. When the S3 first came out the price difference between the two was in the $100-150 range. I have the S3 myself and if you plan to use it at all for taking movies it's got the movie button right on the camera body, just one press of the button and you're taping. I've used it several times and it's real handy and this is in addition to the features you already mentioned.

Jacksonsmom, my ISP is in the midst of a changeover, so we are having some technical difficulties here and therefore the rebate window is coming up blank for me and I cannot view it myself.

However, I called Amazon a second time [after your post] and once again they adamantly assured me you do not have to buy the printer to get the $50 rebate. I'm sure I was (unintentionally) driving them  about it so they made a note on my account that I would be absolutely assured of getting the $50 should I decide to buy this camera. If you're interested in buying it maybe call and see what they say to you.

ETA: Problem resolved, I can see the screen. Agree it does appear to say offer is on printer and camera. Nonetheless, Amazon customer service support is saying not so. I suppose if you want to buy the S3, now is the time to act, but I'd advise calling first. ;)

Jeanne, thank you for the information.

Well, even without the $50 rebate it isn't a 'bad' deal. I have read so many good things about the camera.

I used to process rebates and I know how strict rebate companies are with following the 'rules' so even though Amazon says you don't have to I would not be surprised if the rebate is still denied. You would not believe how many people would say "but the company said I could still get the rebate"

But if you are going to get the camera any way, You sure can not beat the free shipping!
I think this will be my Christmas present ;)
This is the best price I have found for the S3 even without the rebate.

Might that dramatic price drop indicate the S4 is coming soon? Maybe (as some have predicted) in February or the spring? :confused3 Just wondering. I have no way of knowing. But those are awfully good prices.

Just wanted to post that Amazon was great to deal with and made good on the notation they put on my account, refunding me the $50 on the S3, so I did in fact get it for $305.94. :woohoo:

I know at least one person who frequents the Budget Board picked up the S2.

Was anyone else able to take advantage of this nice deal?

It seems the rebate is gone now. I have the S2, it is great. S3 should be a good one too. Enjoy.
