I focused my trip around making my husband happy, and made adjustments as necessary once we were there. I made sure we had a full rest day and a water park day because he would appreciate these things. When he wanted to chat with an animal handler at a habitat on the way to Everest, I didn't push moving along before the line built up (why we got there at opening). I also slowed down the pace on our DHS day per his request. When he wanted to leave Epcot instead of staying for our Test Track fastpass in the late afternoon, I agreed to go back to the resort.
My husband makes light fun of my love of Disney World, but he's pretty respectful about it, so I've never felt the need to discuss it with him. I hope you two can get to a happy compromise point.
