I am fairly confident that you keep the balance on the card as you do with most giftcards. You just cannot get cash back for the remaining value.

The only caveat (just realized) is that it is $40 at a time, no cash refund or $$ left on the card.
So we will have to bring 2 cars to get the $40 worth (hopefully, gas is high enough now!).

Where did you see that? I've never heard about a gift card that works that way?

I have never seen one for gas like this one. Slickdeals is a great site to keep track of the Discover cashback rewards. I remember a few years back they had Olive Garden for the same deal. Wish I had stocked up on those!

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I had on my to-do list to cash in my $ for gas cards this week...I had the $70 for $75 card on my list, but this was obviously a much better deal. I was able to get 5 which will pay for my gas to Florida in August!

Charge everything to the Discover card and don't forget to pay it in full each month or the rewards aren't worth it!
