I missed several episodes last year (the storyline with the preacher was just too sad) and am now a little confused. I am watching the reruns. What is up with Trixie and Saul and Swearengen? Is she in love with Saul (sp?). Is she supposed to be Swearengens woman?
If any of you hoopleheads can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Yes, Saul and Trixie are in love but Trixie "belongs" to Swearingen. The funny thing is, Swearingen probably really loves Trixie and it tears him up. Besides money, she is the only thing he cares about.

My DH has been watching Deadwood since day one, and I've since been trying to catch up on the reruns. From what I gather, the only people that Swearengen had any affection for were the preacher and Trixie - although he has a funny way of showing it.

That said, I'm very excited for tonight's new episode, how about you? :)

Last year I missed the final episode, and was able to see it last night.. Wow what a great ending..

I was crying with the Preacher, Laughing with the Doc and Jewle Dancing, and Screaming with Seth and the widow lady "doing it"

I cant WAIT For Tonight!!!!

Of course DH is not thrilled, Last year, I started using that Very bad word they use all the time.. You all know.. A rooster.......
When I got mad at something. Time for him to get the Soap ready for my mouth again.. HA HA HA HA :earseek:

I was reading something about how the foul language on Deadwood is actually historically accurate.

Seems that during the time of the goldrush, it was very common to hear people talk that way. They even researched it when developing the show.

So when you count Swearengen say "that word" fifty times an episode, rest assured, it's the real deal. ;)

I am a VERY historically accurate driver, then.
Yes, Grinningghost, I am looking forward to it. I was so pleased when they moved Carnivale back (love it) so I could watch Desperate Housewives. And now Deadwood is opposite Desperate instead. DH loves Deadwood and can take or leave Desperate, so we will stick with Swearengen and the peaches.

I always thought it must be fun to be in a series like Deadwood, where you got to wear all those period costumes and ride horses. I think I was born late. ;)

I was watching Deadwood last night to catch up before tonight. 16 DD walked in to look at something (she's never watched the show before) and she asked me how many times one person could say the F word????? She just looked at me and asked "Why are you watching that?" We don't swear at our house but I'm sure she hears it at school.

I was talking about the language thing with someone the other day. I thought the use of the rough language(F word and others close to it) came into common usage after the world wars. Deadwood sure ain't Gunsmoke :)
The language doesn't bother me, I just question the accuracy.

Oh yeah, I agree with that! Poor Swearingen...he tries hard to hate everyone. We all know there's a soft side. Deep down. Deep. Somewhere.

(OT: who else here thinks Ian McShane is just hot, hot, hot? It must be that whole funny, witty, villain thing that I dig. :confused3 )

This weekend I happened across some old flick on the Western Channel or something called Calamity Jane. Well I had to stop and watch for a minute. All I can say is if Deadwood shows a more accurate portrayl of her, this movie make CJ looks like June Cleaver.

Don't forget to post your thoughts after tonight's episode on the Deadwood!! Deadwood!! thread!

pirate: "Gimme some peaches!"

We need a Swearingen emoticon. Until then, the pirate is the best I can do... ;)
