i posted this on the UK board, but everyone here is also so very helpful, i hope i'm not doing something wrong by also posting here:

As her official trip planner, this is what i've set up for DD's september trip to WDW (and NYC).
(the trip is DD and her friend - DF - also a girl, both 23 years old)

please tell me if i've forgotten to schedule/reserve anything, or if you have any ideas for other surprises i could arrange for them.

WDW:
1. tickets
- DD: has a premium annual pass
- DF: I have the 14 day ultimate ticket on order (it hasn't arrived yet and i'm getting nervous - but hopefully it will work out)

2. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party - tickets purchased for one of the nights she's there

3. hotel and free dining package (pop century)

4. two surprise welcome baskets ordered to be delivered to their room on their arrival day (each basket has the following, personalized based on their preferences: stuffed animal, autograph book and pen, disney coolbag sandwich holder, assorted soft drinks and snacks, helium balloon, personalized note signed by mickey and pals)

5. 14 ADRs (for 2 weeks of free dining) in the order they'll be eating (they're both vegetarians, though DD eats fish as well):
Chrystal Palace - dinner
Whispering Canyon Cafe - dinner
Chefs de France - dinner
Coral Reef - lunch
50's Prime Time - lunch
Chef Mickey's - dinner
Sci Fi - lunch
Tony's Town Square - dinner
Yak and Yeti - lunch
Tokyo Dining - dinner
Spoodles - dinner
Boma - dinner
The Wave - dinner
Raglan Road - dinner

6. Magical Express - in making this list i just realized i have to contact ME to arrange for their airport transportation - i have to find the phone number...anyone know the ME phone number?

have i left anything out at WDW? any other things i could do for them? surprises?

NYC:
in New York, i've arranged tickets for them for Wicked for their last night in new york. That's all i could think of to arrange for them in advance since they're staying in a youth hostel.
Any other ideas for new york?

by the way, this is DF's very first trip to both WDW and the United States (how very exciting!!!)

:cheer2:

Magical Express numbers:
the WDW resort room reservation number

or call 1-866-599-0951

I'm planning a trip with my friend and would be also her first trip to WDW and USA... even though the trip is in 2010 :rotfl:

2010 will be here before you know it....:goodvibes

DD's been hoping to travel to WDW with a friend for years and years and years...
she met this girl 6 years ago and they've been planning on going together since then...

last year they went to tokyo disney together and now this year, they're finally headed for WDW...and they ARE major major major excited!!!!!

i just made her ME reservations on the phone - they're so nice at the disney call center....i wish all call centers were that nice..

i got a nice sounding young man....he sounded about 16.....and sweet as can be...

i thought of another thing to prearrange for them...
i noticed on the DU site that i can advance purchase a 2 park 7 day unlimited ticket for universal at a really good rate - less than on the univeral site..
so i'm going to do that for them too...

Would they be interested in any dinner or evening events:

- Hoop de Doo (we love it)
- Cirque (despite some peoples prejudices - no scary clowns! great show)
- Dinner show at the Poly (not a fan, but some really love it)

- Illuminations plans?

good ideas!
we hate Hoop (our feelings toward hoop were very similar to Kevin's recent review of cinderella's royal table)....
i did check on the dinner show at the Poly (we've never done it either), but it won't work for them as vegetarians...

but i will definitely get them tickets for cirque...i completely forgot about it ....DD LOVES cirque de soleil - so that was an excellent suggestion....i don't know how it slipped my mind :confused3

as for illuminations, she's planning on watching it from japan after eating at tokyo dining...we watched from there in november and it was a pretty good vantage point and lighter crowds, so we didn't have to fight for position...

thanks for the ideas!!!

DD's friend's WDW ticket arrived today!!
So that's one more thing off my list.
It's a fabulous ticket - 14 days of unlimited entrance to everything at the world (the 4 theme parks, 2 waterparks, Disneyquest, and pleasure island while it's still open)..

it was supposed to arrive in 10 days, but it actually took 12 so i was a bit worried....but it's here now...

so now DD has her premium annual pass and her friend has the 14 day ultimate ticket, so they can come and go at everything at WDW without counting the number of entrances...perfect!!

one other thing i remembered that i haven't arranged - though not disney related -- the shuttle to get them from JFK to the youth hostel in manhattan....i tried to get through to super shuttle yesterday, with no luck...i'll try again today...

Sounds like you've done a ton of work in doing all the planning. Not to add to your list, but...

Here's an OCD thing I have done - I write/print a list of my ADRs (times with confirmation #s), various phone #s such as emergency contacts, WDW guest services, Magical Express (in your case), maybe a local taxi service-though on property this usually isn't necessary- and laminate it in a size that fits in my back pocket. It's overkill, but hey- it's the DIS. With reservation/confirmation #s, even if passes/tickets don't arrive, they can often be picked up on site with a photo ID. Making this sheet and laminating it at my office takes about 20 minutes maximum...

You might also walk DD through how you went about researching/arranging these things... Teach a man to fish, you know... ;)

great list!!! thanks!
I always make a list for myself of important info (phone #, confirmation #, FF #, etc), but i never thought of laminating it - that's a great idea - i can do that at the office depot near me...and no, it's not overkill....

as for teaching a man to fish - you're right...and the truth is, DD knows how to do this...she was just being lazy - she would have gotten around to making the resort reservations/ADRs, but this is disney - she would have missed out on free dining, good ADRs etc.....so i stepped up to the plate...i was happy she didn't get angry about my intervention.....normally she would...

but she really does know how to fish -
when she was 21, she planned her own backpacking trip to vietnam, flew BY HERSELF to bangkok where she knew she'd find like-minded backpackers headed for vietnam - spending a month backpacking in vietnam and another month in thailand.....
and she did all the planning herself -
she has some pictures from that trip on her website in case you're curious.....
www.myspace.com/chanilerner -- that's her you hear singing on her site - and those are her songs (she's a singer/songwriter)...

she would have been able to plan this trip, but the deals would have been gone by the time she got around to it all....
and i have to admit, i'm happy she left the planning for this one to me.. ;) almost as much fun as being there....

This was (mostly) what I meant. The DIS has helped me appreciate how a little (or a lot!! Whom am I kidding:laughing: ??) of OCD goes a long way toward making the onsite Disney experiences effortless. Disney vacationing is a different animal... As one who has drunk the Kool-Aid, I always try to spread the planning gospel to other Disney fans who try to "wing it" and are invariably disappointed...

Hope she and her friend have a great time!!!:goodvibes Thanks to DM, I'm sure they will. ;) (Also hope they bring you something better than an empty Dole Whip container!)

too bad you can't hear me.....i really just laughed out loud....very loudly out loud...
i couldn't figure out what OCD meant....
i kept saying....OCD OCD...and then i got it....obsessive compulsive disorder...right?
soooooooooooooooooo funny....
and soooooooooooooooooooooooo true.....
thanks for that laugh..

and yes, OCD is definitely a requirement for disney planning...
