DD's toenail injection didn't work and I fainted

Tonight DD's toenail partial removal didn't work as the injection was not strong enough and they did not want to top it up as she is only 11.

To make matters worse I fainted and ended up in the operation chair while they turfed DD out with a partially numb toe.

While I was passed out they took off my stinky shoes and socks!!!!

They are going to try again tomorrow but I think I will wait outside.

The funny thing was I was laughing whilst they were putting in the injection which started DD off and then when they started to say it wasn't working everything just blacked out!!!

I keep laughing about it now but it must have been awful for DD to have to put up with!!!

Funnily enough, that's what I was doing yesterday, amongst other things - helping remove toenails. They can be resistant to the local anaesthetic and often need a top up.

I would suggest you wait in the waiting room or if you want someone to support your daughter, and at 11 she might need support, take someone else who can sit in with her.

Oh Sue, I feel for you, I am just the same, I'm amazed that my girls have ever had their childhood jabs as I am not good with needles at all. Good luck for your daughter today with the rest of her toe nail.

what a nightmare! I nearly fainted when then put a canula in DD's hand. In my defence they hadn't told us that was what they were going to do! (it got even better when DH overheard 2 doctors talking about her pneumonia when we hadn't been told!)

Anyway I felt like a bit of an idiot when my 2 year old was standing over me stroking my hand whilst I lay in her hospital bed so I can sympathise.

I hope all goes well today for both your DD and yourself!

Oh Susan I am so sorry but I just couldn't stop laughing as I read the bit about your stinky shoes and socks I hope everything goes ok today, lots of and for your DD.

my dd had hers done when she was 13, the doc tried to do hers at the surgery, but she was so worked up that the injection didnt work. so it was abandoned especially when she started throwing up!
I took her to a chiropodist, who just sprayed her toe with some numbing stuff and that was it, no elastic band round her toe nothing, it was alot less painful than the docs method, and only cost around £20.

Thanks everyone we are off in an hour and I just found my stinky socks in my bag which I took to work with me today by mistake.

Oh my!!!!

all gone OK, toe is bandaged up. aw: My dad took DD in for the operation as DH too scared and stayed at home and I sat outside. While outside I could hear my dad telling the nurses about DDs trips to WDW and our DVC ownership, so we are spreading the word!!!
