Wow, who knew there could be such a disscusion over nicknames!!
In my family we have a Gerald, sometimes Ger, but never Jerry. We have a Gregory, but always Greg, a Dainel, used to be Danny but now that he is 23 he is Dan. A Melissa that is always Melissa and an Ariel that is always Ariel (yes, she was named after the mermaid, my mom said that after picking out all of our names we could pick out the youngest babys name.). My name is Amalia, pronuced just how it looks but for some reason everyone wants to say it with an E. I have always been called Molly though. I don't mind it all, Molly is who I am. My DH is Phillip, but has always been Phil to me.
I do have a nickmame story though, my sweet little 4 month old son is William. I love Will but my DH likes Billy. I really don't care for Billy at all. Most of the family calls the baby Will and when I am asked his name I always say William. We figure when he is old enough he will let us know which name he prefers. My DH also hopes that my pet name of bunny-bear dosn't stick. He heard my five year old nephew call him that he said I better quit calling him bunny-bear, its cute now but if people are calling him that when he is in school the kid will be mad at me, LOL!
