i'm having a good time enjoying DD's trip from afar....

thought i'd share a few of her highlights up to now:

Sunday to Wednesday morning were in New York (at the Milford Plaza in times square - got the room for $150/night on expedia)

on monday they started their day at the american museum of natural history, and then did lots of shopping through monday and again on tuesday (build a bear, fao schwartz, etc etc)

Monday night she saw Avenue Q (the people who wrote avenue Q, also wrote Finding Nemo the musical in animal kingdom) -
she loved it....i ordered the tickets for her from Telecharge (by phone) -when she arrived at the theatre to pick them up, they told her they'd upgraded her tickets - she ended up in the 6th row, center, right on the aisle....
she said they were amazing seats...
and Bert (a character in the musical) shook her hand as he went down the aisle in the finale...

Tuesday night she saw Wicked - again her seats were upgraded - she was in the 4th row on the aisle......great seats...

wednesday morning they set off at the crack of dawn for JFK for their delta flight down to orlando....the plane arrived EXACTLY on time (to the second)...after picking up their luggage they headed for the magical express...

once they'd checked into the pop century (their room was ready even though they were early), they headed off for.........where?.....this is an easy guess.....but of course....where we ALWAYS go first when we get to WDW....the Magic Kingdom...

They had a dinner reservation at the Chystal Palace (DD's friend's favorite character is Pooh - so i figured CP would be perfect for their first meal)..
in fact, they had so much fun at the crystal palace, DD called us in the middle of the meal to tell us all about it....they were having a great time playing with the characters...
DD's friend gave tigger a piece of paper, as if for Tigger to sign an autograph....
but actually, on the paper, DD's friend (DDGF) had written her phone number and the words "call me" on it.....
Tigger picked it up, read it and then made a big deal of very carefully folding it up and tucking it away for 'later'....
and the shenanigans continued from there (lots of hugging, kissing, pretend jealousy and all sorts of silliness)...anyway...when we spoke DD went on and on about it...she was very very excited....

as for food, she told one of the CMs that they were vegetarians, so in addition to the food on the buffet, the chef specially prepared food for them!! pretty amazing..

after dinner, DD and DDGF did the MK....everything was a walk on - space mountain, buzz lightyear, pooh, etc...the only ride with a line? peter pan...30 minutes....

they stayed until park closing....
then when they got back to their room they opened the door....
and what did they see?

mickey mouse had left them each a gift basket!!!

ok...so maybe Mickey only signed the cards....

a month ago, i ordered 2 special baskets from the disney florist to be delivered to them on their arrival...
i was so happy to hear that the baskets were actually in the room when they got back from their evening in the park...
and everything i ordered was in the basket...
DD said that she and DDGF sat on their beds for half an hour just looking through it all, mesmerized.....

a perfect ending to a perfect day!!:wizard: :wizard:

Glad she is enjoying her trip so far. We have booked to watch Avenue Q in Oct when we go to New York along with The Lion King.

I'm so glad they are having a nice time. I bet you find yourself thinking they will be at such & such now all day long.

What day are they getting the cake?

Avenue Q is fantastic - we have seen it twice in London. Sooo funny!

in the end i decided not to order the cake as i wasn't sure whether she would be at any particular restaurant...
though i made all the ADRs for her, i told her she can change them (if she can).....and she might...so it's a bit risky to do the cake ...

sounds absolutely wonderful!! glad their having the time of their lives!:goodvibes

Did she get to see the original Winnie the pooh and friends? They have been moved to The History and Social Science Library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Might not interest her but it was the highlight of visiting NY for me. http://www.nypl.org/branch/central/dlc/dch/pooh/index.html

that is so interesting....i didn't know that....thanks for the link...
next time i'm in new york, this will be one of our stops...

What a great start to the holiday - anything planned for a grand finale?

no grand finale....just lots of days of fun (i hope :) )

DD called from MGM about 2 hours ago..

she said that so far this trip almost everything has been walk on (MK, AK, MGM - she hasn't been at epcot yet)..

she said she only got to MGM at noon today (they got a late start because she was sick all night from something she ate at the Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner last night)..
she said that even ToT and RnRC were walk ons....only toy story mania had a line (30 minutes)...

maybe the hurricanes scared people away?

Sounds like it but what fantastic wait times, and walk on's thats fab.
Glad they are having such a great time, shame about being ill mind in the evening but hope she is feeling much better now x

WOW them wait times sound great.I do hope your dd feels better.x.
