DD's recital was two weeks ago and they did Cinderella for the ballet segment. It was beautiful. DD's little class (4 yr olds) were Cinderella's white horses and wore beautiful sparkly white costumes. They were so darn cute. I don't know what the music was bc it was mostly classical/instrumental for the ballet numbers except for one the older girls did at the ball. They all lined up across the stage with their arms entertwined, held up masks over their faces, and then Shania Twain's voice comes on and says "Let's go girls". It was I Feel Like a Woman. That was pretty cool.
Their dance school splits the performance up into three different sections, the ballet, the gymnastics portion, and then everything else after that including hip hop, jazz, tap, lyrical, etc. The ballet part has one theme and the other two have a different theme. The other theme was "Katrina Can't Stop the Beat". Her dance school had 5 feet of water during the storm. They ripped everything out, put in new sheetrock, bought new mats, etc and were back in business before most people could even say FEMA. She lost a LOT of students at the beginning but most of them found their way back before the year was over. So it really was an emotional performance. The very last number was the competition team doing a number on pointe called "The Rebirth". There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Another moving number was a lyrical dance they did to "Prayers of the Children". I balled during that one. It was very emotional.
