DD#1 was in tears coming out of practice last Friday. Seems her coach told her that she had a D in science, and would have to start attending study table. Now let me tell you that Ds are not accepted here! The only reason I didn't press her was that 3 days earlier she had a B plus! I was hoping she didn't have a D because I didn't want to have to ground her before the big jr. high dance this weekend, but if she had a D it would have happened. I EMailed her teacher, but of course it was Friday afternoon and we had to stew about it all weekend.
I got an Email at my school address first thing this morning--she has a B plus! Her teacher said she'd find out what happened, as she is the assistant for the 8th grade volleyball team (DD is on the 7th grade team). Turns out the coach was looking at the wrong line!!! Someone else has a D, but not my DD!
This coach has done some things that make me think she is a real dingbat, but this takes the cake. She isn't a young one either, she's about 45-50 I am guessing (as I get older it's harder to tell, LOL) and the athletic director for the jr. high. I wonder how many other kids' weekends she's ruined this year! I know that during one match DD asked when she could go in--she was scheduled to go in 2nd game, but since she asked, coach didn't put her in until game #3! Obviously she's not a starter, but I thought that was a little extreme. DD asked me last week to talk to coach about why she doesn't play more, but I told her I don't want to be one of those parents who nags the coach.
I guess the point is if your kid's grade changes in 3 days, double check the source before anyone gets in trouble!
