Here's my write up from our recent holiday. There were four of us - 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 4. We stayed at the Cheyenne for 3 nights and it was our second trip.

Day 1 - Sunday May 20th

We had travelled down to Ashford the day before and stayed at the Premier Inn on the Eureka Leisure park. The room was nice and the hotel has a Beefeater restaurant next door plus McDonalds, KFC etc nearby. It’s also just a short distance from the biggest Sainsburys I’ve ever seen! We were going to pick up some things for breakfast from the supermarket but the Beefeater were offering a continental breakfast for £5.25 per adult and free for children so we did this instead. It was nice to start the day with a decent breakfast rather than snacking in the room and I thought it was good value for money.

This time we parked at Car Park D at the train station rather than the multi story. It’s a little bit further away but DH dropped us and the bags at the front door before parking the car and walking bag so very little hassle for over half the cost! The train journey was straightforward as always and we arrived Marne La Vallee at around 2pm.

Because of the longer opening hours we weren’t in a rush to get to the park so we walked off train and straight onto bus to the Cheyenne. The queue for check in was small so it wasn’t long before we had our documents and room key as our room was ready. Donald Duck and Minnie were in reception dressed in their cowboy gear.

We walked down to our room which was in Running Bear. This is the closest block to the park so the walk in was easier than I had anticipated. I’m sure it must be a shorter walk from our room than from some of the Sequoia Lodge rooms.
After a brief rest we walked back to parks at around 3pm. We walked down Main Street taking in the atmosphere and had a look in a couple of shops. We saw The Celebration Train go past which really got us in the mood. It was pretty busy and I had been expecting long waits for rides as it was a weekend but we walked over to Frontierland to Phantom Manor for our first ride and wait time was only 15 mins.

Despite the bad weather forecast the sun came out in the afternoon so we picked up a couple of ice lollies to cool us down and walked round to the Pocohontas playground as we didn’t see this area last time. We had all planned to try out BTM this time as we didn’t last year but weren’t feeling quite brave enough yet so we decided to put it off until the next day and try out Pirates of the Caribbean instead (another ride we hadn’t done before as it was closed last year). This ride was a virtual walk on and we all loved it! I’d seen other people mention in their reports about the non-swinging pirate but he was swinging away during all of our rides! It was now about 5.30 and we had an hour until dinner so we walked round the caves under Adventure Isle then walked over to the castle and round the upstairs area.

We had dinner at Walts at 6.30 which was really nice. All the food was really lovely and I had asked for a table by a window so we saw the parade as it went past. After dinner I went shopping with DD and DH and DS went to Discoveryland. The queue for Autopia was 15-20 minutes. Buzz and Orbitron were both walkons. Annoyingly it started to rain at about 9pm and we had planned to watch Dreams that night. We sat and watched the cartoons in Videopolis until it was time to go and watch the show. Because of the rain there was plenty of space around Central Plaza so we didn’t have to get a space to early. Dreams was just amazing - I wish I’d been able to see it a second time.

Day 2 - Monday 21st May

After our late night the night before we didn’t try and get up for EMH. We got to breakfast at 7.45 and it was busy but it wasn’t the terrible scrum I’d read about.

When we arrived at the park we visited Salon Mickey for the first time (a small lounge only open to members of the Shareholders Club) to pick up our Shareholders VIP Fastpass. It was really lovely in there and we enjoyed going in there each morning for a drink and a pastry. The filled croissants with the nuts and chocolate on top were the best thing ever!

Unfortunately it rained all day long which was a real pain as we all got soaked. It was also annoying as we didn’t get to use the VIP Fastpass as much as I’d hoped. It still came in useful though, particularly as some rides had closed their fastpass due to low crowd levels. We were still waved through with a smile though and got a few funny looks from people in the queue!

Thanks to the rain the queues for rides were small to non-existant. We did...

Buzz Lightyear
Nautilus
Star Tours (VIP Fastpass)
Orbitron
Small World
Teacups
Peter Pan (VIP Fastpass)
POTC
BTM (VIP Fastpass)
Molly Brown

It was my first time on BTM and I hated it! (I’m not a thrill ride person) It wasn’t nice doing it in the rain plus I was riding with my four year old and trying to hold on to him. More on that later though!

It was now time for lunch at the Blue Lagoon. This was really nice, although we were all a bit damp! It was made extra special by the appearance of Peter Pan and Wendy who I assume were scheduled to do a meet and greet but decided to find somewhere out of the rain! They went round each table and luckily got to us just before we left.

We were all feeling a bit wet and miserable by this point so decided to throw in the towel and go back to our hotel. I hated giving up time in the parks but in hindsight it was probably a good thing as it gave us all a chance to have a rest and catch up on a bit of sleep.

We ventured out again at about 6pm and walked down to the Earl of Sandwich for tea. Afterwards DH took the children back to the Cheyenne and I decided to brave the weather and go for a walk round to the other hotels. The Sequoia Lodge is definitely next on my list for when we go back, I loved the look of it.

Day 3 - Tuesday 22nd May

Thankfully the rained stopped in the night and didn’t return for the rest of our stay.

DS & I got up early to do Extra Magic Hours. This was wonderful as the park was so quiet - even more so than when we were there last March. During the first hour there were just NO queues! I have some great pictures of the queue lines for Dumbo and Peter Pan with noone in them at all! We did Dumbo, Peter Pan three times in a row and then Teacups.

We had decided to treat ourselves to breakfast at DLH so walked back over there to meet the others at about 9am. Breakfast was lovely, but quite busy. It was here that we got an unexpected bit of Disney pixie dust. When we arrived we had explained that we were staying at the Cheyenne and wanted to pay for breakfast and had expected to pay before we sat down like the other buffets. However, they just showed us to a table and told us to help ourselves to the buffet. Later on we were just commenting on how it would be quite easy to walk out without paying (we wouldn't have though!) when they lady who seated us came over and told us that there would be no charge! A very lovely and unexpected treat and we made sure we said thank you to her again as we left. I don't know why they did that - it was busy so maybe it was just easier for them! I love the DLH!

We popped in to Salon Mickey and then headed over to the studios. We managed to do Animagique, Cinemagique and Moteurs in quick succession. Then we went to Toy Story Playland where we queued for Slinky Dog for about 15 minutes. DD and DH went on Parachutes which was almost a walk on as they used the single rider line. I then took DS and DD on the Cars ride which had a 5-10 minute queue. I’m sure I saw the queue for Crush showing at 45 minutes so it must have been a quiet day! DD had another go on the Parachutes then we went to see Stitch live. After this we went on the Flying Carpets (5-10 minute wait) then headed out of the Studios via a couple of shops.

I think it was about 4pm by this point so we decided to get the train round the park before finding somewhere for tea. I think we had to wait maybe 15 minutes for the train.

As others have mentioned, the restaurant opening times seemed to change every day and several places were shut so I would really recommend others do what we did and visit City Hall and ask them to confirm which restaurants are open and until what time. I was hoping to try Hakuna Matata or Toad Hall but these were either shut or closing at 5pm so we ended up at Fuento del Oro. This was was very nice though, especially the Churros! After tea we had another ride on Pirates then walked over to the Story book boat ride (walk on). We would have gone on Casey Junior but the queue for this said 45 minutes. We had another trip on Star tours (walk on) before heading over to see the Parade. We then went to say hello to the dragon (who is definitely moving around more and looks much better since her makeover) then back to the hotel.

Day 4 - Wednesday 23rd May

Our final day :(

I did EMH with DD this morning (DH isn’t fussed about doing the same rides over and over like I am - I like to get my money’s worth!) so we got to breakfast at about 7am (nice and quiet this time!) and then headed into the park.It was wonderfully quiet again so we did the Carousel, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Teacups, Buzz and Orbitron before meeting the others at 9.30 for our last visit to Salon Mickey.

It was now about 10am so we headed over to get a Fastpass for BTM. While we waited I went over to Phantom Manor and the others went to the playground. I wasn’t sure about riding BTM again but decided I had to give it another go, especially as there were so many young children doing it! So I did and it was ok! We decided to get another FP straight away (although the queue was only 15 minutes). We walked around Adventure Isle for a bit then went back to BTM - it was great and I’m now hooked!!

We walked over to treehouse then onto Pirates (still minimal queues). We had lunch at the Agrabah Cafe booked for 1pm but we were all hungry so went a bit earlier and had no trouble getting a table (it was a lot busier when we left about 1.30 though). This is a great restaurant - I love the food and the theming.

After a busy few days we were all flagging a bit so we went over to Videopolis for a sit down for a while. On the way over we saw the Celebration Train in front of castle where the characters get off for the meet and greet. It made me quite glad that my two aren’t fussed about meeting the characters - they just get mobbed! After cartoons and candy floss we had another go on Star Tours (walk on) and then walked over to Casey Junior which had a 45 minute wait, although I don’t think it took that long in the end. DH then left to get the bags from the Cheyenne (he decided he might aswell do this rather than pay for the Express service). The rest of us had a last ride on Its a Small World and then headed off to the train station. Thanks to a little mix up over where we were supposed to meet we got upstairs to the queue at about 5.15. It took ages to get through the check in and security and we didn’t get on the train until about 5.50 so next time I’ll definitely aim to get there before 5. I hope everyone behind us got on - it must have been a close call as the train left dead on time!

All in all it was a great trip. I loved the Cheyenne and would definitely stay there again. The room was clean and more spacious than I thought it might be. It had a few signs of wear and tear but it didn’t bother me. I think with the theming of the hotel they can get away with it.

It was also great being a member of the Shareholders Club this time and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going more than once as the perks definitely justify the cost of the shares.

Thank you for the great and detailed report. I am having a WDW craving but with Europe being my new home for a few years I want to try to figure out how to make DLP work for me.

Glad you got the free buffet and had a good time even in the rain.

Fantastic trip report. Sounds like you had a great time. Now you just need to book the next one.......:rotfl2:
