We're new DVC members and starting to plan our 1st trip to hear those wonderful words "welcome home!"

How much is DDP for 2012? Do DVC members get a discount? I read here yesterday that we would have to get the DDP for the whole week, but, what happens is our daughter and her family only stay with us for 4 of the 7 days?

We're starting to work on some specifics and then we'll call MS to book at AKL for June! :cool1: DD accepted our offer to come down with us! :cool1:

Everyone in the room must have the same dining plan for all the nights of your reservation.

The DDP costs the same for DVC members as all other guests - we don't get any discount. It has to be paid for in full when it is added to the reservation.

The only difference is that DVC members staying on their points can add the dining plan without having to purchase park tickets.

You buy the plan by the number of nights of your reservation. So would that be six? Then you only have two nights of credits to use up before they leave. Or do a signature meal or two while they are there.

Although the cost of the dining plan is not reduced for DVC members, when the cost is increased at certain times of the year (I think around Presidents Day, Easter, summer, and Christmas) it is not increased for DVC members. That is, DVC members pay the same cost no matter the date.

Thanks for all the replies. I figure we have till December to figure the whole thing out - which will be 6 months before our visit and the ability to schedule ADRs. We need to explain the DDP to our DD and DSIL as DD told DH yesterday that they plan on eating all of their meals offsite and "supporting the local economy." We much prefer being immersed in Disney magic most of the time. We're just playing around with what meals we would eat in the villa besides breakfast so we can figure if it is worth paying OOP for meals vs paying for DDP.

They are still supporting the local economy by eating at WDW. But it may be a little more expensive if they plan on fast food. It just takes you away from the park and you lose time at Disney when you go offsite.
