I am trying to plan my Christmas vacation using my DVC points and I am trying to figure out how much the DDP will be for my family of 4 all adults ages. Can someone out there help me figure this out. We will be at DW Dec 22-Dec 30.

Thank you :confused3

$45.99 x 4 adults = $183.96 total per day. $183.96 x 7 days = $1287.72 for the entire stay. Hope this helps :). Tax is included in the numbers.

Thank you for the help... I was coming up with those figures also but I just wanted to make sure my math was right and since I have never went as a DVC member I was hoping someone out there would have a better understanding of the dining plan....

Keep in mind you now don't have to book DDP for the entire stay. You can do just a few days. You'll need to split the res and then link the different res, but MS can handle that for you.

If you are brave enough it is actually a much better value to book the Deluxe plan every other night than standard DDP (as long as you do all TS meals).

You know - I was thinking about that. Why do you say it is a better value?

And why do you need to be BRAVE?!?:thumbsup2

How much is the deluxe dining plan for DVC members? We are thinking we may want to do more TS than CS, so it may be a better idea for us to do the DDP if it's not too much more expensive.

I will not go into my spreadsheet details but the main reason is that you get an appetizer with the meals and you get drink mugs.

You can find the DDP and DxDP cost here on the DISboards. Remember a DVC member does not pay the peak season prices.

We've did the DxDP in March 2010 and I doubt we will ever do it again. Just too much food. And we had plans for eating at more signature restaurants which ate up some of the credits. However, that turned out to be too much rich food.

I too like an appetizer over dessert. And after a while all of the desserts around WDW seem to be the same desserts or variations of the same desserts. But we switched to the TIW (Tables in Wonderland) card instead of doing the DDP last October. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/dining-discounts/ I'm not sure I'm sold on the TIW as a couple of our favorite restaurants do not accept the TIW card either at all or for dinner (Teppan Edo and Yak & Yeti's). But at least with the TIW we actually eat only what we want not what the DDP allows. It's hard for us to turn down food we consider "free" or part of the plan. Also we do not regularly have alcoholic drinks so that perk with the TIW card did not save us money.

This is what we do. It works out nicely because we have all day, the day we "check out" to use our creds up, so effectively can spread DDP over 4 days for a 3-day package

I also have been considering get the DxDDP for just one night. It comes with 3 meals, 2 snacks and a mug for $78.99.

The regular DDP is $45.99 and you get 1 TS, 1 CS, and 1 snack.

So, I figured the mug was worth $14 (which I would buy if not on the plan), which brings it down to $65.00.

So, for $65.00, I get the full credits for the regular DDP for day 1, and then I basically get 1 TS and 1 snack for the 2nd day--basically, spending $20 for a TS meal and snack--and, as mentioned the TS meals with the DxDDP come with an appetizer!

Of course, then I go back to getting something and eating way more than I want. If I just get the TIW card and we eat our TS at lunch (which we prefer), I probably still come out ahead of the game. But, if I do it just for night 1 of the trip, it might be a wise choice.

Once I know who exactly is going on our trip, I will make the decision.

Right now we are staying @ BLT for 8 nights.

So I was thinking Quick Service the 1st day since it is not a full day & we would get the mug for the whole trip, then 6 nights of DDP where we can strategically conserve enough credits for the day we fly out. The cost for the 4 of us would be $1,243.72 & we would have 6 TS, 8CS & 8 snacks along with the mug .

If we went Deluxe for 4 nights the cost would be $1,263.84 & we would have 12 TS (yes, we can use them as CS but what a waste!), 8 snacks & the mug.

We would not normally purchase the mug, & while app's are lovely (better than dessert since we have the snack credits), not sure if at every meal I could eat app's, main & dessert - there are even some places were the apps look better than the meals........

Not sure what to do. Too bad dining isn't like a Chinese menu - 1 from column A - 2 from column B!!! I suppose I will continue to strategize
:surfweb:

The big advantage of being able to do Deluxe DDP under DVC is that you only do it for a day or 2 so on average you only have 2 TS meals per day. My wife is a light eater so often she just gets a bowl of soup (cash) and has my appetizer so for 1 night Deluxe DDP (for 2) we get 4-5 table service meals.

You have plenty of time to decide. Keep in mind when you add the DDP to your reservation you have to pay for it in advance. Wait until about a week or two before your trip to call and add the plan you want.

That is EXACTLY what I was planning on doing.

Sometimes the planning (for me) is as much fun as the trip!

Somehow I would like to incorporate DxDDP into our trip & I really love to hear what others do - helps me plan & others come up with senarios I wouldn't necessarily have thought of.
