I would be interested in hearing from any solo travelers regarding the DDP. I usually like only one main meal a day while at Disney. Feel too stuffed otherwise. If you have traveled solo to WDW did you do DDP? did you feel it was worth it? Do small meals add up to the charge of 39.00 per day? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

My last trip was as a solo, and I did the DDP. I found it worth it. I was not a big dessert eater, but took my desserts back to my room to have the next morning as breakfast with my coffee.

I will be there in two weeks for another solo trip and I will be doing the dining plan as well.

On most days at WDW I probably would have two table service or buffet meals and no snack or counter service, although occasionally I may have a snack or a counter service meal.

Would the DDP be useful for me then, or would a person have to have a counter service meal and a snack each day to make it worthwhile? Is there a way to apply the counter service credit towards a table service meal?

I did DDP this past December. Since it was my first time doing it, I had wondered about the cost of DDP versus what it would have cost me to pay for the meals outright. I kept track and I came out way ahead with DDP. For instance, just my one meal at Coral Reef would have cost around $49. Most of the table service meals seemed to end up in the upper $20's to low $40's by the time you factor in the tip since you get an appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink so by the time you add in the counter service meal and a snack, you are definitely ahead money-wise over the cost of DDP.

There is a lot of food, though, so it may not be worth it to you since it sounds like you probably wouldn't be ordering (and paying for) that much food on your own.

Hope this helps...and have fun!

I've done the DDP on 2 different solo trips, so far, and I loved it. The first time I set out to "maximize" my savings, using TS for dinners, and trying out some new resturaunts. I paid about $195 for the plan, and would have paid over $300 if I'd had to buy the food. The second time I wasn't nearly as fanatical about trying to save. I used to prefer my TS at lunch, so that's what I mostly did. Also, I ate at a couple buffets, so I didn't "maximize" my savings. Although I didn't really keep track of my savings, I know I saved. The convenience of not having to carry money around (I've never liked charging to my room a lot), and ordering whatever I want to eat regardless of price, made it well worth it for me. I'd definitely do it again.

I got the free dining last September and I have it again for this September. Its really worth having not to worry about what the price of your food costs. The only difference for me this year is that I am getting a hire car this time so I will be able to go around a bit more.

If you don't a counter service each day it will be closer to a break even. If you are doing to sit downs a day (and considering some tours and/or recreation) you should look into the premium plan,

don't under estimate the counter service places.

some are pretty good!!!

all the food courts are consider counter service.
