We just got back last night from an 8 night stay using the dining plan. It worked really well! We bought breakfast every day (usually quick service - just oatmeal and biscuits most mornings), then had a nice snack (Dole Whip, a pastry, or something similar), lunch, and dinner for "free."

The only downfall is every cast member at the restaurants encourages you to have dessert with every meal! Ye gods, we must have gained 10 pounds during the trip, even with all the walking.

We had wonderful dinners at California Grill, Artist Point, Concourse Steakhouse, and many other places and didn't have to worry about the cost of what we ordered. That was fantastic. And popping into any quick service location wherever we were that day and not having to think about it was nice as well. We definitely got more than our money's worth out of the plan every day.

Whether we would have been better off getting a discount on the room and eating more economically, I'm not sure. But since this was our first time at WDW, the dining plan was a good choice because it gave us the freedom to experiment and enjoy without guilt or worry.

I'm glad you had a great experience!

I'm so pleased you are pleased. We have 14 nights in August with free dining so we have 56 snack credits to use!!!! Yummy can't wait especially after seeing all the lovely snacks we can now get. :woohoo:

Just an FYI: if you're a AAA member, you can get a AAA discount off the room portion of a package and also get the dining plan if you book directly with a AAA travel agency.

Is the discount significant, like 10% or more?

I just booked the GF for next November with the AAA discount, which was good for 15%. Booked room only.

Hopefully an annual passholder discount comes along, but 15% is pretty good.
