DDP with convention rates?

Has anyone been able to get the DDP with convention type rates before. The last time we were there was almost 2 years ago. They said with those rates we could not get the DDP. I am not talking about the free DDP either. We could nto purchase it. They do not release our hotel reservations to Disney until 3 weeks prior so I have a long time to wait to find out if it is still the same rules!

Normally to get DDP you must have a package which includes a minimum number of days of MYW tickets and rack rate (or close to it). Convention tickets are available only throuugh a special line and the rooms are probably 40% discount from rack. So you will probably not be able to get DDP.

Can't be done. Special convention rates are not offered as MYW packages (they're usually a block of rooms set aside for the convention planners to offer to attendees) and the only way to get a DDP is book a MYW package (or a DVC reservation). Even the ticketless room/dining reservations for annual passholders or military personnel are packages.

You'd have to forego the convention rate and book yourself a package through Disney.
