I have Celiac Disease (cannot tolerate Wheat/Barley/Rye), and may have to modify my orders or have chef prepare seperate meals. Can I still use the DDP or would this screw it all up?

Thanks.

Being on the DDP won't have any specific impact. Also, at TS restaurants, you'll have no problems. The chefs at Disney's TS restaurants are well-versed at handling special medical restrictions. At Disney's CS eateries, it might be a little more problematic, as they generally don't make anything there -- they just cook it. However, I'd encourage you to ask your question on the Restaurants forum itself, rather than here on the Dining Plan forum, so you get replies from a broader set of folks.

Here are some threads you might find useful:

I was just talking to someone about this last week. They visited Disney over the summer and they called and were assigned a personal chef. He checked in with them via phone every day (they stayed off site) and asked what park they were planning to visit . He asked the child with celiac diseases what she wanted to eat each day (he made recommendations for counter service) but if she said she wanted mac n cheese, he told them which counter service restaurant would have her meal available. For the sit down meals and character buffets, they absolutely made it a wonderful experience.

Based on their experience, I'd say that the dining plan would make it even easier!

I have a tomato allergy and when I went last May I was on the dining plan. At every TS restaraunt I mentioned to the server that I was allergic to tomatoes and could they please check that what I had ordered didn't have any. When they place your order in the computer they can enter any allergies. So at Coral Reef the waitress came back and said that the tilapia I had ordered was fine except it was served in a tomato oil. The chef would prepare it without the oil, or I could order something else. I never really had a problem. Except at Morocco. It seems there all of their veggies are cooked in a tomato type broth and they are served on almost every dish. So I could only order one thing. I know that doesn't really help you too much. Although the personal chef that Liz mentioned sounds great!

Good luck!

We just got back from Disney and my son and I have Celiac. We are on a more restricted diet than Gluten free. We are on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and do not eat any starches or sugars. Brenda Bennett at Magic Kingdom got the details from us and sent an e-mail to the chefs at all the restaurants. The chefs then called or e-mailed me. Everyone was great. We had specially made food at every table service restaurant.

We don't eat grains, rice, corn, milk, or sugar so dessert became fruit. (At home we use nut flours) Some of the restaurants made beautiful arrangements of fruit and Boma made us sorbet out of just fruit. It was great.

When you make ADR's they will give you the phone number for the restaurant.
