My DD (13) and I are staying on site for 14 days in December. Should we use the DDE card and save 20% or should we do the DDP. We are on a tight budget and I don't know which one is better or if either is worth it. Any suggestions? :confused3

Well it depends waht you want to eat. You could eat more cheaply than the DDP I believe, by eating some stuff in your room, sharing, and no need to do TS if you don't want to. I think DDP was an awesom deal with apps and tip included, but now not so much. For our family of 4 (2A, 2C) for our next 5 night trip I think we may save $100 if we're lucky (based on what I've priced out)... and I did not include tip in this calcualtion since I pay it either way... but if you only eat CS and skip DDP you also "save" all that tip money.

I would say that if you like to eat and are planning meals at expensive places, it may be more worth it... esp. since you are going for so long. Go ahead and figure out how many TS meals you actually want and then price it out and see what it comes out to. :)

Don't know about DDE sorry....

The DDE must be purchased by a FLResident or a passholder. So unless you have an AP you must purchase one (an AP that is), and be sure to do the math to see if it is worthwhile.

The dining plan is a better deal in that you have more food, but on the DDE you have a lot more flexibility.

I did the dining plan for the first time a couple of weeks ago (Spring Break) and have to say that I was not thrilled. I found there to be too much food for us, and while we ate pretty well we spent a lot of time working our days around the ADR. I even did an 8:40pm at Boma because we were not hungry at 5pm after the big CS lunch at noon.

So for me and my kids, its the DDE card and signature dining. But we also go to Disney six times a year. If I were the typical Disney guest with a six night stay once every year or two I would probably do the dining plan. You really do save a lot of money with the DDP. But you eat a lot too.
