DDP tip on alcohol?

I read in another post that they basically add up the "cost" of what you have ordered and then tip is 18% of the total cost. The post I read said that the cost of out of pocket alcoholic drinks was included in that total and the 18%tip amount. Is this true? I wouldnt think so, but just wondering if someone can confirm.

If you are paying for your meal with Disney Dining Plan credits, and you order items not included on the plan - such as alcohol - you will get a separate check for that part of your order; and yes, an 18% gratuity IS added to that check, as well.

Took me a minute, but I think I understand your question now.

Last Fall, we did the DDP, and when we ordered alcohol with the meals, the DDP took care of the meal part, but the alcohol (or any other non plan items) was charged with an automatic gratuity listed at the same 18% as the plan.
I think the 18% becomes 'attached' to the other items, based on using the DDP. At least, that's how I think of it. HTH

It even gets applied if you have folks dining with you who aren't on the Dining Plan -- you get separate checks but because they're eating with you, they're subject to the automatic 18% gratuity.

Last October we ate at Chefs de France. Some of us were on the dining plan. We got 3 checks; one for the DDP guests, one for the wine and a third for the family members not on the plan. Every other restaurant added the 18% to all of the OOP checks.

The waiter at Chefs de France didn't add the automatic gratuity to one of the checks, my memory is it was for the wine but I'm not 100% sure. The waiter made a point of showing me which bill included the gratuity and which didn't. My guess is the waiter, correctly, assumed we'd be tipping more then 18%.
