I had just become comfortable with my decision to NOT use the DDP, when I realized as I was going to sleep last night that I haven't been figuring in TAX.

Are meals at WDW taxed? At what percentage?

When you are on the DDP do you pay tax?

Also...in trying to build this spreadsheet, I'm also wondering about drinks. I want to compare exactly what we'll be paying for vs. getting on the DDP. Sometimes the menus list a children's meal with drink, other times drinks are not mentioned. For adult and child CS and TS meals are drinks included?

Thanks for any help.:worship:

I don't know the answers to your particular questions, but, after reading so much on the board, I have come to the conclusion that it is so close anymore (OOP vs DDP) that it really doesn't matter. I just did it for convenience purposes. We want the whole vacation paid for up front.

Just forget about it and enjoy the rest of your planning!

OOP meals are taxed, i believe it is 6.5% (or close to that:) ).

DDP includes (adults at $37.99 & children 3-9 $9.99, no additional tax):
TS - entree, beverage (non-alcoholic, non-specialty), dessert (no dessert w/b'fast) or buffet
CS - entree/combo, beverage, dessert (no dessert w/b'fast)
snack - most snack-type items under $4

the cost of DDP includes tax (not tip)
children must order from child's menu, if available

DDP is not a "one size fits all". i crunched the numbers using DDP versus DDE (20% off)....DDP still came out less expensive)

coral reef example (avg priced restaurant, using what DH & i ordered last time):
strip steak $32
shrimp pasta $24
2 chocolate waves @ $8 each = 16
2 beverages @ $3 each = $6
total $78 plus tax of $5 = $83...vs paying $76 for the DDP, so savings of just $7, but making your CS & snack free :thumbsup2

at certain restaurants, such as tutto italia & wolfgang puck cafe, your "savings" can be greater. buffets & breakfasts however, tend be less cost-effective.

hth :)

We love to eat sit down meals.... The way I look at it, it's a good deal. We have three different character meals on my son's wish list.

I am paying for my Son and myself so $48 a day total cost for DDP.

Each buffet costs~
$27.99 adult
$12.99 child
For a total of $40.98 and in some tax ~ new total $43.64

$48.00
-$43.64
$4.36 more then what I would pay out of pocket for this meal.

So for that $4.36 we each get a counter service meal and a snack credit!
