We will be using the DDP on our trip in May 2015. We are planning on staying at CBR for two days with DDP and AKV for a week with DDP.
My issue is we will be checking into AKV before we have used the last TS credit from CBR. We will have the one TS credit left for our group and then should have 7 TS credits added to that for a total of eight. We will use the one from CBR before the end of the day, breakfast actually, but we want to check into our resort before we head to the park for the day.
Has anyone else had any issues with this? I'm afraid it'll look like we are losing that meal, which is not an option. I thought about checking out of CBR and having them print up the remaining credits on our account and then checking into AKV and having them to print up the credits on our account after checking in to make sure that there are eight remaining credits.
The rooms will be linked in MDE if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

You shouldn't have any problem, but having a print out would make things easier if the system does happen to lose that last credit.

The only thing you cannot do is combine that last credit with a credit from the 2nd ressie to go to a 2 credit meal. Since you said breakfast, the only one that would apply to is CRT, so I hope that's not your plan.

Last month we had a "split stay" in the same resort, same room. But because it was considered a "separate" reservation we would have lost any unused credits. We were saving credits for signature dining reservations and we had a million snack credits and if we had not asked the front desk about it beforehand, they would've just disappeared.

It was actually a nightmare to get it all straightened around. They pushed the unused credits to the 2nd half of our reservation but it ended up completely screwing up our DDP where half the time our bands didn't work. I spent at least an hour a day at the front desk talking to managers. It was awful.

Your unused credits from that first stay were only good until midnight of your first check out day. Anything after that does disappear.

Right...but because we were staying in the same room, they said "it's just a formality because of the credit card....it's a continuing reservation..nothing will change". But in fact, the DDP is on a separate system, which doesn't "talk" to the reservation system. The "split stay" happened 1/2 way through a 10 day trip, so we had unused credits up the wazoo.

The HOURS we spent trying to get a continuing reservation and then the HOURS trying to sort out the DDP mess was enough to put a pretty dark cloud on our trip.

Disney did make it up to us. But this was not a simple process for us by ANY stretch of the imagination.

Did you have the dining plan on both reservations? Why did you have a split stay booked in the same room?

Yes. DDP for the whole 10 days. We were in the Beach Club Villas and they originally could not accommodate us in the same room type (2 bdrm 2 queens instead of 2 bdrm with a queen and a pullout) for the entire stay. But through multiple calls with DVC, they were able to keep us in the same room for the whole trip, but had us checking in and checking out mid way through.

I have no earthly idea why they had to do this, but it happened and it was awful. We ended up getting 9 day tickets for free if that's any indication of what a mess was made of it.

She was asking for experiences so I thought I would share this one. It really was a PITA but maybe it won't be because she's truly checking in and out.

We had this happen to us. It was a nightmare. Our bands didnt work. They tried to merge the dining credit, but theu put my sister (who stayed with us the first night, but had her own room the second night) all on my band so when she tried to use her dining credits it was denied. She had to pay over 100.00 for her meal and was embarrassed. Then we had to waste over 3 hours with some clueless manager to try and fix it. She finally claimed to fix it however all she did was move the room charge to my room instead of my sister's. It was a nightmare. Good luck

The OP's situation is different from the other two exeriences described above. Dining plan credits can't be transferred or carried over from one reservation to another. Credits have always expired at midnight of the day the reservation ends.

We went from one resort with DDP immediately to another resort with DDP. We had credits left. At check-in for the second stay, the first thing the CM did was print out a chart of used and unused credits from our first stay. She highlighted what was left that would be expiring at midnight that day. She said those credits would (normally) be first in line to be used before the second set of credits started being used, but that all credits from both stays were there for us on that check-out/check-in day. This was a few weeks ago.

Reading over some of the earlier postings, I think people's various experiences depended somewhat on how far along Disney was with the MagicBand program during the time of their visit. My conclusion from reading Disboards daily, and our recent visit, is that a lot of kinks have been ironed out, a lot of CMs better understand how the whole program works, as well as, as lot of guests now have experience with MagicBands and tickets/dining.

that is exactly what we are doing 1 day stay at one resort with DLXDP and using all these on checkout day. Than checking in for 4 days in another room category and using the regular dining plan followed by checkin for 1 more night at another resort getting the DLXDDP again and using the credits on checkout day. I was told it is the way it works and our credits dont expire until midnight the day of checking out so it better be right or Ill be there spending lots of time at the concierge desk. If they offer a policy and its on the DDP brochure than they will have to make it work
