DDP split stay question..when is it good until?

So my DD and DS will be heading down on a wednesday, staying 2 nights at SSR. My other son and I will be coming in late Thursday night, after midnight. We then move on Friday to AKL. My thought was to get the QS dining plan for son and daughter for their wednesday night thursday stay. The will not be able to use all 3 qs meals per each day as they get in late thursday night. My thought was that they could use the qs credits on friday. How far into friday can they use the credits, that is when they check out of SSR and we all check into AKL on friday is that when the use of the dining plan ends or does it follow them for the full day at the next resort? We will not be getting the dining plan at AKL as we are staying in a concierge room for that night.

Your post is a little confusing, but it sounds like you want to get the QSDP for two people for two nights. Is that right? They won't have 3 credits each night, but only two each, so they will have 4 QS credits and 4 snacks total to use from Wed until midnight on Friday, no matter where you're going on Friday to sleep.

The problem you may have is there are two of you coming in the middle of their stay. Their stay becomes a package and all package rules apply, one of which is everyone on the reservation has to have the same dining and same tickets. Are you and DS staying with them on Thursday night? If so, they'll need to add you to the reservation after they check in. If you're on the reservation from the get-go, I believe you all have to purchase the dining plan for both nights.

It sounds like they're arriving after midnight on Friday morning (checkout day). They can be added for the night without having to be part of the package. To be honest, though....I wouldn't worry about being added. The only need to be added for just a few hours would be to have a magic band/key card for the room, and it doesn't sound like that would be necessary in this case.

Yes, that is correct. Just be aware, as mentioned, that dining credits are based on nights stayed...not days. In their situation, they will have 4 qs meals and 4 snacks per person, for a total of 8 qs meals and 8 snacks.

I’m still lost. Which reservation is getting the dining plan? Remember that everyone on the reservation has to have the plan.

It sounds like you want to have the plan on the one day Friday reservation, but also have all four people on it. Or do you want to have the plan on the two-night reservation with two people on it?

I wanted the QSDP for the wed and thurs night stay for my son and daughter so they can get something to eat when I am not there, plus get the mugs so we can have the 2 mugs for the remainder of the trip. To have some qs options after I arrive will be a bonus. I do not want for friday or the remainder of our trip. Think I will do that.

I was thinking of doing a split stay of one night with DVC to get the CS dining plan for just one night. Doing one night at one resort then another three nights at another resort without the dining plan. The biggest advantage would be to get the mugs that we could use during the entire time we are there. I was on the fence about not doing it, but I am now considering it again as a possibility. We would get three mugs for my party and my daughter's friend would get one as well.
