DDP @ Sassagoula (French Quarter)

We will staying at POFQ this year and have a DDP question. If we eat at the food court there (Sassagoula) using a counter service credit we get dessert with our meal. Does anyone know if there is a dessert option that we could take with us for later????

There are the bakery items that they will put in a to go container for you. They have items such as muffins, slices of cake, rice krispy treats etc. Some counter service places also let you use your dessert credit on whole fruit.

Can you get beignets for dessert with your CS meal?

I believe so, but only the smaller order of them.

PP is right, you can get the 3 piece order of beignets for your dessert. You can come back after your meal to get them if you want. If you are going to take them with you I suggest opening up the styrofoam container as soon as they hand it to you to keep the beignets from getting soft.

Actually, I'm not sure if they use styrofoam any more? Maybe only if you tell them they are to-go?

BTW, we really enjoyed our dinner there. We had the Build-your-own Shrimp Salad, Pot Roast, and the Fried 1/2 chicken.

note on the beignets: they do not KEEP! 30 minutes after they cool off they start getting very tough and chewy...an hour later they are as tough as shoe leather. We love beignets, but you have to eat them why still warm.

There are many items at the bakery counter that can be taken to eat for later. We always carry a large ziplock bag with us to pop the giant cookies in for later consumption.

Thanks for the feedback. The giant cookies sound like a good choice. I am sure those beignets are good but no Cafe Du Monde, if you know what I mean.
