DDP Restaurants & Disney Visa Rewards Card

I would like to know this too. We will be using the DDP in August and I would like to use my rewards card for my OOP expenses . After all, Mommy needs her juice too!. :flower:

Do all restaurants that participate with DDP accept Disney Visa Rewards Cards too?

In December we used the Disney Visa Rewards Card for our food. It worked out fine. The only problem with using it for food is that when you put a tip on the bill you don't always get the receipt with the tip. At one point I had no idea how much we had left.

In July I am using the card at one location (our hotel) to pay for the meal plan. You can also use it for tickets, shopping, etc. :wizard:

Just keep in mind that Disney Leased areas (Downtown Disney Shops and Restaurants, etc) do not necessarily take the rewards card.

Call ahead if you need to use the card at a non-park/non-resort place, to verify they take it.

Also, a few of the ice cream stands/popcorn/etc. don't take cards. Most do, but the temp carts that come out when it gets really crowded, or really hot (more soda stands) don't have the readers attached.

Other than that, they take it as cash.

Yes, tinagirl, I was specifically wondering about other's experiences with the non-Disney owned restaurants in DTD, as I suspected they might not take the rewards card. I want to use my rewards card if we have wine with dinner. That's ok if they don't take it, it's only one meal out of many!

Here's what I did with my rewards card and found it very easy. I just charged everything to the room and on the night before check out, I took the card to the desk and they applied it to the bill. This way there is no carrying the card or trying to remember how much is left on it.

We used ours last year with DDE no problems at resorts or park restaurants. I would just leave the tip in cash, easier to keep up with how much is left. There is also a number on the back of the card you can call and check the balance if you need to. Charging everything to the room is a good idea also if you are staying at a Disney owned property. We are at the Dolphin this trip, so won't be able to use that option. I'm planning on using DDE and reward card for all our TS meals this trip.

Me too! I've never used the Rewards card directly at a shop or restaurant --- it wouldn't even occur to me to do that.

The only difference is that I apply the reward dollars to our room account at the beginning of our stay, if I'm certain we will spend enough to cover it. That way I don't forget to do it!

GREAT idea! I will be using my rewards card for the first time soon. My friend has had problems with hers when she used it at Lotus Blossom and they said it didn't go through, so they swiped it once or twice more and it took the credits from her card all three times! She did eventually get the credits back, but it took some doing.
