Hi,
I have a 5 night ressie at BCV with the regular DDP. I would like to change it to Deluxe DDP for the 1st 3 nights.
Can I do this without the possiblity of losing my room ressie?
Thanks
BTW...didn't pay for DDP yet

I'm pretty sure you can't have multiple types of DDP on one reservation. I think you'll need to keep the same DDP or DxDDP unless you have two reservations.

You would need to have MS split the reservation in to two segments. They will only do this if there is availability. If you do this, you will have to pay for the dining plans when the change is made.

Availability as in my room at BCV. OY!! Have a studio at BCV 4/12 to 4/17. I don't think that will be available.

This stinks because I booked my ADR's thinking Deluxe 1st 3 days then regular last 2 days.
I can't use all my credits deluxe the whole time. Leaving early 4/17 for a cruise so won't have the last day to use them.

Was very excited with this new option of a split DDP:headache:
Always a day late and a dollar short:upsidedow

I don't mind paying if I can change it to the 2 different plans...I like to prepay anyway. Makes the actual spending money seem less when I'm not hit all at once with tickets, dining, etc.

Guess I'll have to find out on Monday....also need to talk to accounting to set up my dues for next year through checking acct.
Thanks

On a similar topic, does anyone know: If I do split a reservation (say, 2 days, arriving late the first night) so I can have regular DDP for the second night only, what time do the credits start?

I called and segmented my vacation in March. No dinning plan for day of arrival which is a Thursday. Added dinning onto Friday, Saturday Sunday in segment 2 of trip and no dinning plan for the Monday to Friday segment 3 of trip. When I added the dinning plan after having segmented the trip on a previous call the Cast Member was very happy and said that I knew what I was doing:lmao::lmao:which was great since this will actually be my first trip home I credit all the more experienced DVC members who have guided me along the way:thumbsup2.

For my Oct'11 trip I did something similar as 3 of us will arrive 5 days before my DD will. We only wanted DP for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend when DD will join us. Also segmented the final 4 days of trip as we plan to change to VB at the 7 month mark. This should make it easy since I will only have to change the portion of the trip and not the whole thing. If you know in advance how you might want to segment your trip I highly recommend you book it that way at the 11 month mark. Unless of course you are trying for a hard to get ressie.

Actually, it's a little more subtle than that. I spoke to a supervisor today, and was told that if the reservation was made before the dining system "upgrade" on October 11, then they have a way of splitting the reservation so that you don't risk losing the reservation and there doesn't need to be current availability. (I'd ask for a supervisor if this is the case, to make sure it's done right.) If you made the original reservation after October 11 (like I did), then splitting it afterward is more like a cancel and rebook, though I kept the same reservation number. I purposely called at an off-peak time to minimize my chances of losing it.

Mine worked out fine, though I'm still not sure (and I forgot to ask the supervisor) what time the credits start on the first morning I have the dining plan.

I believe you will need to get new KTTW on the day you switch plans. So as soon as the new KTTW is issued, you should be able to start using it, just like when you check in originally.

Thank you for posting this info. :thumbsup2

This is great news:cool1:

Your dining credits will begin at "check-in" for each segment and continue on until midnight the day of checkout. (I am a dine agent...)

Thanks! So we have to check in and get new card keys at the front desk on the morning the ddp starts, even if we're not changing accommodations?

I called and changed my dining plan for next week. We had a 2 night reservation with the basic DP. I changed it to one night DDP instead. Saves us money and gives us the mugs. Truly we only need one night of dining anyway. They did mention the possibility of having to move rooms although allegedly it doesn't happen often. It better not, for only 2 nights! Anyone have experience with that yet?

We did this a couple of weeks ago. I was a little concerned when we checked in. They had 2 reservations for us (reservation 1: our original reservation with 4 nights of DDP, reservation 2: modified after Oct 11, no DDP the first night, then 3 nights DDP). They were a little confused but a supervisor handled it pretty smoothly. I had to check back in the next morning and did get new KTTW cards and a new parking pass. We did not have to change rooms.

I think after the first of the year you might not have to check back in.(Read that here somewhere).
