DDP question for split stays

If a family is doing a split stay between 2 resorts over a week, can they opt to use the DDP for only one part of their trip? If so, I would assume they would need to use the credits only on the dates that are matched up to the ressie with the plan.

I am asking this for a friend who is new to DVC and will be booking a larger villa for an upcoming trip with in-laws who will want to dine at TS restaurants but for the rest of their trip they are fine winging it with meals. What would you suggest? TIA

The DDP is tied to a particular reservation. With a split stay, you can choose to have the plan on either reservation. If you have the DDP on a reservation, the credits are valid from check-in til midnight of your check-out day.

To clarify, for a split stay, the credits from a given reservation segment are good until midnight of the last day of THAT reservation and not for the entire Disney stay.
