DDP purchase date?

Have a January 2017 trip planned (DVC) and wanted to add the DDP. Can I purchase it now even though it's the 2016 rates and have it valid for my 2016 dates or do I need to wait until the 2017 prices come out?

Also, I know there have been some changes and I noticed that an app is no longer included in the DDP. Does the side/ dessert switch mean I can get an app for my dessert? This was one of my favorite parts of the plan bc I LOVE apps more than actual meals

For DVC, you have to wait for 2017 pricing to be released.

No, you cannot swap a dessert for an appetizer. There's no official policy printed, but you should be able to swap it for a side salad or soup.

The appetizer is still included on the Deluxe plan, but hasn't been included on the regular plan for 8 years or so.

DVC prices tend to come out much later. But you can add the dining plan up to 2 days prior to your trip, so there's really no reason to rush it.

The side salad or soup that can sometimes be swapped at TS is not guaranteed, and is not an item on the menu. Most restaurants aren't offering the swap, really.
