I haven't been to the boards in awhile, so I apologize if this has been covered. I called to add the dining plan today to my June vacation and she informed me to add it I would have to pay now. I know last summer that was not the case. Is this something new, and when did it change? Thanks.

I am not sure when it changed, but it has. If you want any dining plan added, it must be paid for when you add. When I made a reservation today for the BWV, I think the CM told me you can add it up to 48 hours before your trip.

I also was told that you can add it up till 48 hours in advance, if I book my ADR's at 180 days but don't add the plan untill much later do I need to up date my reservations?

What happens if I want to book CRT, at 180 days will they charge my credit card the entire amount if I don't have the dining plan yet? And when I do add the plan will they credit my card right away or will we have to wait?

If you book CRT and you don't already have the dining plan associated with your room reservation, they will charge you for the full amount for CRT when the reservation is made.

If you book CRT and pay for it and then add the DDP later, they will not automatically refund your CC for CRT.

They will refund it when you get to the restaurant though.

Thanks for all the info. I guess once I book my vacation (which was back in July) I don't pay as much attention to the new stuff til it gets closer to leaving. I went ahead and did the dining plan...we're getting it anyway, its one less thing to pay later I guess.

No need to pay right now. 48 hours in advance is all that's required.

Ok so this means if I add the DDP 48 hours to arrival I don't have to pay til check in? Just want to get it right. Thanks.

If you did not already have a reservation with a dining plan added booked before October 14, 2010, you have to pay in full for the plan at the time you add it to the reservation.

If you made a reservation WITH a dining plan before October 14, you pay at check-in. If you had a reservation booked before October 14 but you add the dining plan after October 14, you must pay for the plan at the time you add it. The check-in payment applies ONLY to reservations that had a dining plan added before October 14.

If you want to wait to pay for the plan, you can call Member Services up to 48 hours before your arrival date and pay it then. But no more paying at check-in. The latest you will be able to pay for dining is 48 hours before the arrival date.

The new rule is making it difficult on renters, who now have to arrange DDP payment with the member they are renting from, because only the member can call MS to add the plan to the reservation.

No, it means you pay when you add it to the reservation. If you add the DDP at 48 hours out, you will pay at that time, not at check-in.

I would think that this would have an adverse affect on the DDP and it's popularity. My family loves the convienence of the the plan but, I feel that we don't get our money's worth with the plan. Now requiring payment in advance, we probably will not bother with it. I wonder what kind of consequences it will have on advanced reservations if you have not added the DDP?

Ok I get it now. Thanks. Thanks to you as well Chuck. :)

It only affects those reservations that require payment up front like CRT, Hoop De Doo. If you have not yet added the plan, then you have to pay upfront and get reimbursed when you get there (thought someone posted you can call back and they can change it prior but I don't know).

I have not yet added the plan to my August trip yet made all my ADR's last week without any issue.

Thanks for posting this, I will be making ADR's next weekend and plan on adding the dining plan much closer to August.

Did you book on-line? Will you call Disney dining to add the plan to your ADR's later or does it not matter? I know that they ask you at each restaurant if you are on the plan, so is it necessary to have it noted on your ADR.

I have noticed that since they changed the on-line ADR site that there is a box to link you plan to your ressies.

I was thinking about booking CRT but don't want to carry a $300 charge (the cost for 5 for dinner) for six months, I'm also thinking about the Fantasmic package and just learned that you need a credit card for this one also!

Thanks for the reply. I was mislead as to the ability to confirm ADR's. I wasn't going to use the DDP because I thought that ADR's could not be made until payment was made. Thanks again.......................
