DDP package credited to AP renewal

I read where AP guests who had trips canceled could benefit from the free DDP offer. If they book a new DDP package, the cost would be subtracted from an AP renewal.
My question is what about the guests who already renewed their AP which would have expired in the interim. Do they have to wait for their 2021 renewal?

Still a little early to know exactly what Disney will do. If I understand your question, my best guess is the tickets you buy to qualify for free dining could be used as a credit toward your AP renewal. Since you have already renewed your AP, it would likely have to be applied when and if you renew in 2021.

If you purchase the Free Dining package, you can prioritize your AP andnot use the tickets that are a required purchase for the FD package. That ticket will expire at the end of your trip, but you can apply the value of one unused, expired ticket towards the purchase or renewal of an AP, or the purchase of a new ticket.
