DDP Menu choices at Narcoossee's?

NO!!!!!!! We are going in a month or so and this is the reason we booked!! I will be SOOO mad....can someone confirm this?

I just got off the phone with Disney dining and asked if there were any limitations at Narcoossee's if you're on the Dining Plan. She was surprised by the question then went and did research,

THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS as TO WHAT YOU CAN ORDER.

I will be ordering the lobster in about 10 days.

I just called and the girl did not know. She asked her supervisor and she said no you can not get the lobster any longer. I guess we will wait and see.

I plan on calling directly to the restaurant on Monday!

We need to speak with someone at the restaurant directly and confirm this. If this change is accurate, then we need to change our ADRs for the 30th.

If this turns out to be true...it is very disappointing :sad2: . I mean if you couldn't order lobster why would this meal even be worth 2 table credits? If they are planning to change it, it should go into effect next year. Not when so many people have already made ressies expecting to have lobster.

Hold on for a sec while I put on my flame proof suit............there. It tends to get hot when you play devil's advocate. According to allears' menu for Narcoossee's dated June 2007, the average entree price without the Lobster is $30.14. Also according to allears, entree averages are $19.60 for Kona Cafe, $17.99 for Rose and Crown and $20.07 for Spoodles. So, 1 TS credit get you all those entrees while 2 TS credits get you $30 average entrees. I think Narccossee's justifies 2 TS credits without the Lobster. The Maine Lobster price is $59. That definitely skews the average up wouldn't you say? How can 2 TS credits cover the restaurants' food cost for the $19 risotto and the $59 lobster at the same time?

I hear you. The bait and switch is not fair. I've thought for a while that lobsters(and lobsters only) on DDP in this price range should have a sur charge, but nobody wants to hear that. At the same time, they cannot just slip this in without informing the public. That is false advertising if the literature for the DDP does not mention that there may be entree exclusions. I would think a small sur charge would be better than losing an entree option all together. I am sure almost all would disagree with that though.

Disney doesn't post menus. There isn't any guarantee lobster will even be on the menu.

Disney hasn't excluded specific menu items from the Dining Plan but in past years the CP dinner package specifically excluded lobster.

I guess Disney could remove lobster from the entree section of the menu which would exclude it from dining guests but allow cash customers to order it.

A table service credit is valued (by Disney) at around $26 or around $52 for a signature restaurant. The two lobster menu items at this restaurants are twice the price of other entrees. Do the math.

In the past, disney has specifically excluded lobster from its dining plans, which were much less of a value than the current DDP - they could easily choose to do so again in the future. Or as Lewisc said, they might just remove it from the entree section of the menu (this is what I see happening).

Many restaurants don't even list a price for lobster, instead something like MP (market price) is listed. Lobster is generally flown in. There has to be a maximum (wholesale) price Disney is willing to pay if they want to offer it to to DDP guests.

I hope this isn't true! We have ADR there in 5 weeks. My stepdad was really looking forward to it

GOOD NEWS !
Just got my call back!
Lobster on the DDP is still included ................

I also called Dis and they called Narcoossee's while I was on the phone - they said no there hasn't been any changes and do not know of any in the future that would exclude anything on the dining plan. I was so glad to hear this because we have reservations in January. However, there's always the clause "menues are subject to change". JUst please, please hold on to the current menu until AFTER we have dinner. LOL
