A little background…family of four (kids are 4 & 2), staying 6 nights so we'll have:

12 TS Adult + 6 TS Kid
12 QS Adult + 6 QS Kids
18 Snacks

There are a couple nights where our son will be with his grandparents and won't be with us, so we're going to end up with extra credits for him. My question is…can my husband and I use them? Are credits coded as Adult and Kid when they are taken off your total?

I'm not trying to cheat the system, we're just trying to figure out if the dining plan is right for us and it wouldn't be if we end up with extra credits that we can't use.

Appreciate the feedback!

TS credits are separated by kids and adults. You could use them, but only to order from the children's menu. Is there some reason your child can't use his credits while he is with his grandparents?

They might be taking the kids off property…maybe going to Sea World for the day or to the beach. We're going during Food & Wine so my husband and I want to do that and have a couple nights without the kids while we're there.

Kid's credits can only be used for kids' meals, and since you only have one kid on the DDP, you can only get one kid's meal at a time. You'll need to do the math very carefully to see if extra credits will make a difference. Remember, if you're using snack credits for mainly F&W snacks, you're getting a better value than regular snacks. You could also use the extra kid's credits to get some of the kid's power packs (goldfish, yogurt, etc) and let the grandparents take those with them on the days they have the kids for extra snacks for them.

Thanks for the reply! Are you saying I can use QS credits to "purchase" a kids power pack (btw, what is that? Haven't heard of them) or I have to use a snack credit? I was under the assumption that snack credits weren't "kid" or "adult" so we were planning on using the majority of those for F&W.

Not sure how many extra kid's TS credits you anticipate, but you could do one or more of the cheaper TS options to use them. Use the credit for your child and pay OOP for the adults. A few places where this would not be much more than paying for a QS meal would be The Plaza and Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch) at MK, Sci-Fi at HS, and Via Napoli at EP is a great place to share a pizza OOP. Even a TS breakfast would be an idea to still use the credit and not pay too much OOP.
