DDP...I'm confused?

On the Disney website/brochure, it says that on the DDP for TS that you get an entree, dessert and drink. It also says that it includes an appetizer for ages 3-9 only.

Really? More food for a little kid that probably can't eat it? It seems strange to me. Anyone have any insight into that?

Thanks!

A kids "appetizer" isn't the same as an adult one, usually carrot sticks or chicken soup (or similar).

Basically, my experience is that you can get any two from the "appetizer" and "dessert" list for kids plus their main entree.

An additional reasoning is for the little ones to get something to eat while waiting for the entees. Keeps the kids (and mom's) happier.

As Faldred said, the "appetizers" are not what we might typically think of when we think of a restaurant appetizer. It's more of the idea that the kids get a whole "meal" at Disney. You either pick and choose from the "Kid's Picks" section of the menu or you order a "complete meal".

For example, from Coral Reef:

Kid's Picks
For guests ages 9 and under
All meals served with choice of juice,1% milk or bottled water

Choose 1 Appetizer, 1 Entree and 1 Dessert
$8.99

Appetizers

Celery and Carrot Sticks
Soup of the Day

Entrees

Seared Mahi Mahi
Grilled Chicken Breast
Meaty Macaroni

French Fries and Soft Drinks available upon request

Desserts

Fruit Cup
Ice-Cream Sundae

Complete Kids Meals

Cheese Pizza - served with Veggies and Apple Slices $8.99

Grilled Fish of the Day - served with whole grain pilaf, veggies, and yogurt parfait $8.99

It just sounds like more food...there's no way the kid is getting more food than the adults. The children's meals are small, and the appetizers are not what adults would call appetizers - usually some raw vegetable sticks, a small salad, or a cup of chicken soup. Note the menus above.
