DDP, DDE, Room Key and CCard ~ oh my!

Anyone have any experience with using the DDP, DDE and then using your ccard to charge the difference too?

I am wondering if they just automatically put the difference on your room key to be paid at check out?

We had the DDP. We charged non-covered (such as alcohol or additional items) to the room card. They bring you a slip with the items not covered by the DDP for you to pay as you please (CC, cash or room key).
