DDP, best thing we did, live report!!! Update, we're home!

We are here now and I just had to tell all my DIS friends how great the DDP has been. I am so glad we did it. Yes it is a lot of food and we really didn't think we could eat so much, but we can!!LOL We have saved so much money and we wouldn't normally order as much as we have but even if we didn't we would still come out ahead. Some of the CS have been such great deals. I couldn't believe how much food you get at CS!! For a quick example, at Cosmic Ray's at the MK, it was really quality food and so much of it. Also at the place that has McD's in Epcot, for 1 CS credit we got 9 piece chicken nuggets, large fries, large drink and a McFlurry!! My kids shared that. What a great deal. We will definately add it to our ressie for Nov. One thing we will do differently is use the snack credits more! I was like a snack credit horder and wouldn't let DH use them for drinks in the park! Then tonight I noticed we had 9 left!! There is no way we will use all of them before we leave on Fri. So I sent him down to the store here at the BW to use some for chips and drinks. Oh, we were able to get a 2 liter btl of soda for 1 snack credit! At the BW store we are able to get anything under $4 as a snack credit. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be doing a full dining report when we get home. I have a lot to report about some disapointments and some surprises and my experience with the kids meals.

Glad to hear it. We are trying it for the first time in July. My DH is very picky and did not hardly enjoy any food on our previous trip. DS eats like a horse, and I have been worried about DD 9 and the kids meals. Even with all that just by looking at the menus I can't see how we couldn't come out at least even if not ahead. I would love to hear more about your kids meal experiences as well as your other reviews. Thanks for taking the time to post.

although we've been plenty of times we have never been eligible for the DDP without some sort of package, which we don't need....(AP's)...our trip in MAY!! We rented points and are able to purchase DDP so I am excited to see what all the fuss is about....and we also booked for free dining, with a one day ticket!!

We made a mistake the first time we used the dining plan by saving snack credits. The day we left we had 9 snack credits left. We had paid for "cheaper" snacks so we could save the snack credits. On our second time using the plan, we used all of our credits first. It worked out perfectly. We ended up spending very little OOP on our second trip. We even used snack credits for breakfast most mornings. We found that with all of the food we got for lunch and dinner, we didn't really need all of our snack credits for actual snacks. We mostly used them for breakfast (I highly recommend the french toast loaf at MK Bakery) and drinks.

We are home and I will be posting my reviews on the other board. As for the snack credits, we used them all. We did leave with 2 CS credits left. The BC Marketplace was a great place to use snack credits. Almost everything was clearly marked so you know what you could get. But, the rule of thumb was anything under $4. We were able to buy the box Mickeyroni and cheese to bring home. We though that was the best use of our snack credit! At the BW store, they were all clueless about the DDP. Nothing was marked so you had to ask and the CM's answers always were, we don't know, we'll find out once we ring you up. We did have a problem there and were charged for 7 snack credits when we only used 6. The CM tried to seperate the order because she said she couldn't ring up more than 4 credits at a time. We noticed her mistake after we got in the room and DH had to go back down to get it fixed. He did without any problems. It was a bit annoying. I really liked the BC Market Place and wish the BW had something like that.

With that said, the BW really stinks for CS!!! I don't care that I'm close to 2 parks or other resorts. I don't want to walk that far just to have lunch! Especially on a pool day! My kids don't like PB&J which is the only kids meal at the BW Bakery. Then you have the pizza window, the BW to go stand that has great food, but you can't use the DDP! I really thought this wouldn't bother me, but once we were there it did. Sometimes when you're at the pool you want a burger for lunch! I didn't want to walk to HH at the BC pool to go get lunch in my bathing suit! OK, rant over!
