DDP any positives from recent exp?

We've used it three times and will use it again in Sept. No negative reviews here. But then again, we never tried to maximize it by figuring where we could get the most for our money. We ate where we wanted. Nor did we try to stretch our credits by sharing, or paying OOP for dd so we could save her credit. We just used it how it was supposed to be used. It was never a hassle for us, servers were wonderful and always very helpful explaining things. We always came out ahead by using the DDP and ate at some wonderful places.

If we try to stretch, share or pay OOP it will be due to having booked a 2TS meal. Have you done that?

Our only complaint about dining at Disney is with the kids' menus (and that's not really a dining plan issue...it's a kids' menu issue).

We certainly ate very well and got our money's worth with the DDP. Had we started making ADRs 42 days in advance (or longer) I'm sure we would have enjoyed the dining even more.

Since your 14 year old is a hearty eater, you'll love the DDP.

Another key factor is that some folks don't like to take 2 hours out of their day to sit down and eat while at an amusement park....this didn't bother us one bit.

We've used the ddp three times and always had a great experience. It will depend on your family, but we're able to split 2 counter service meals between the 4 of us for the most part. We came home with 6 counter service credits and 1 table service credit, a server didn't charge our 3-yo for a meal, and waved us off when we pointed out to me.

As far as the tip, we had a couple of servers who would not have gotten 18% from us, had we been paying cash. I don't think it was related to us being on the ddp though, we paid cash for 3 meals and had not-so-good service at one of those also.

We loved it. We had the same great service and food we have enjoyed in the six trips we took without the DDP. As it is now, its a great deal and a wonderful way to enjoy nice meals and the rest you get when you are eating them! I think the DDP is just the latest rant inducer on the dis. Something else will come up to draw the naysayers and whiners away onto brighter pastures of discontent! The minute a thread title has the word "hate" or "rant" in it, the gripe party starts and it goes nuts. I always say, a negative attracts more energy than a positive.

And I so agree with just eating where you want and not where your dining credits will give you the best value. Even if you do nothing but buffets, you still come out ahead. If I start looking at all the components of my Disney vacation from a value standpoint, it will drive me crazy and ruin the fun. Don't worry and enjoy your trip!

Throw us in the :thumbsup2 column.

We even use it when camping.

I'm a planner as well - I'd be planning where we're going to eat even if we were not on the plan so it's like a little gift for us anal types :) It is convenient - saved us a bit of money - & let me stop planning once I got there (well, as much as I can stop planning).

Recent threads are based in large part on a union contract & debates over how this will actually trickle down to affect consumers. Go with the fun now & forget about the back and forth.

Enjoy! :wizard:

we got to eat at some great restaurants and I didn't feel guilty about how much we were spending on food (I'm a compulsive right side of the menu reader!!:goodvibes ) The family so enjoyed ordering whatever they wanted with no input from me! DH looked forward to dinner every night (where are we eating tonight??!?!?). It was his favorite part of our vacation. DD & I are going back for more in Sept.
