Are you able to purchase the Disney Dining Plan being a annual passholder and staying on property? I asked a CM and they say no, that in fact you have to purchase a regular park ticket and have a non-discounted room rate.

Doesn't sound right to me. True?

You can indeed purchase the Dining Plan, but you will have to purchase additional admission, even though you don't need it.

You can apply the admission toward the purchase of your next annual pass, though, so it isn't a total loss.

I was told that if I paid for an AP discounted room I could not get the DDP...you have to have a regular rack rate room and get at least one day park tickets to get the DDP...

Or, you could try to rent points from a DVC member. No additional tickets are necessary with DVC.

Pat

170 days and counting . . . again!

We are a family of four: 2 adults, 2 children under 10....would I be required to purchased one base ticket for each family member in order to get the DDP?

That's correct; the Dining Plan is not available with Annual Pass discounted room rates.

So if I book a room in say June 2008 and get a great AP Room Rate and Pay for one day hoppers I can't pay for the DDP? :confused3

Or is this more in reference to free DDP? :confused3

that is correct. In order to get DDP you have to purchase a package - which means you pay for room & tickets (even if it's just a one day base ticket). This is true both paid or free DDP.

However, if you have APs, you can apply the unused ticket towards the price of your AP renewal.

This year, June 2007, they didn't offer any AP rates. That made it easy for us to decide. How busy the parks are determine what specials are offered.

Well, technically, the DDP rules for 2008 haven't been announced yet, have they? I heard somewhere that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true...so you could try that. ;)

The general rule for DDP is that it is part of a Disney Magic Your Way package, which includes room (rack rate) and park admission (at least one day base ticket for each person in your party). Then you can add on the DDP, paying the cost per guest or if you going during free DDP :cheer2:

If you are an AP holder, you may be better off buying the DDE card, and getting 20% off of most TS. That's what we do. Hope that helps!

You CAN get a discounted room with the DDP. Just not an AP rate.

You can book an AAA package through AAA. You will get the AAA room rate with your package. You will have to buy a 1 day Basic MYW ticket for each person in the room, but, as other's have said, you can apply it towards your next purchase of your APs.

You cannot get free dining with a discounted room rate of any kind.

AP rates are usually much better than AAA when they are offered. But they are not always offered, and some kind of discount is better than none.
