We are a family of 5 and on the DDP. We will have 2 room at POR. I never thought about credits on the rooms key. We will be there 13 nights. Will there be (13 x 4) 52 TS, CS and snack credits on one set of keys and (13 x 1) 13 TS, CS, and snack credits on the other room key? The reservation has us arranged that way. If this is so, can we just use them as we want to pay (probably use up one set and then move to the other) or will we have to use both sets each time to pay? Hope this is clear. Thanks for any help. We went 2 groups, 1 of 2 and 1 of 4. Whenever we ate, we just told the CM 4 for TS, or 5 for CS, or whatever the number of us that were eating. So the CM would swipe that number. After each swipe, you get a receipt saying how many CS or TS or Snacks you have left. They just ask the cardholder to sign. It was good doing it that way, 'cause it avoided us all waiting in line, say when we wanted a snack. Just one of us would go and get it, unless it was a yummy sundae. Didn't trust each other with that.
Hope this helps.

It will depend on the CM. We are family of 6, usually 3 in a room on registration, 2A and 1C per room. Some were very strict and only would let us order what was on each card. It was the same, just had to be two transactions. (except the day, my card wouldn't work and the CM said do you mind if I put it all on one card?) Some understood we were a family and put all meals on one card. TS, they were very strict about would only put through the amount on each card. I suggest that you bring all cards. I explained at every location so that we had no problems.

we've had mixed messages about this very issue... some servers would take one card and debit all of us, some insisted on debiting only what was written on the card... it caused a problem near the end of the trip when one card did not have enough credits to pay for the meal of those listed, but the other card had enough for that and one more meal... they had to go into the computer and pull up all sorts of things (i'm thinking our entire meal history?) and finally agreed...

ergo, in the future, we'll hand them two cards for each meal so as not to end up short on one/surplus on another...

As I read through posts about the DDP I started to think about this. I was afraid we would use the key with the large amount of credits first and then at the end I could see us with a problem trying to pay for 5 TS meals with a card with 1 person in the room. I guess the only way is to use both room keys at every meal? I've never had DDP and that seems like a hassle. Is it that much of a problem? Maybe better for little hassles along the way than a big hassle at the end. We are all adults so there is no mixing of child and adult credits.
Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks for for the info. It is so nice to get feedback. Melissa :yay:

it's really not that much of a hassle to give the server two cards instead of one... just remember to check your receipts that they were debited correctly...

I will try to keep up with it. I appreciate the information. Melissa :goodvibes

I am in the same position, 2 rooms with 3 people in each, so am i right in thinking that when we all eat together that we hand over a key from each room and ask them to take 3 credits from each? does that mean 2 people have to sign for them?

yes, two people will need to sign... but it's really not a big deal... we've done it alot and even had a trip where we had four rooms between 8 of us, so 4 of us were signing... again, it takes a nanosecond or less! :)

oh, and you can let the kids sign (if they're old enough to write their names)... they get a HUGE kick out of "buying dinner" (or at least mine did! LOL!)

I have signed for both rooms and never had a problem. I use the childrens cards to "pay" using the DDP credits because they have no charging on their cards.

okay, wait--we have this situation, too...does this mean when we do counter service my husband and I will both have to wait in line with all the kids so we can both sign? because that definitely IS a big deal for us with 6, 4 and 1 year old boys.

....can sign for both rooms, then I think we will be ok. They had my adult daughter as the one person in the second room and I did have that changed. She has a form of austism and I didn't want her to be responsible for things. If DH and I can both sign for both rooms then it should go fairly smoothly. I never thought about this when I booked two room. I thought all credits would be on all cards. Then I thought I would take charging off my daughter's card and use hers to "pay" for meals so they could not be accidentally charged to the room. I was trying to be prepared and this two room thing has thrown me for a loop! Melissa :goodvibes

Don' t let the two rooms situation with the cards make you crazy. I just explained to each CM when we ordered that we were a large family and had two rooms. I explained how many CS meals we were using and asked the CM how did they want to ring it up? I had all the cards and I just picked out a card. I signed for every purchase, once, twice didn't matter how many times that they rung up the order. Let me say, that I was not cheating on the DDP in anyway. Some CM's rung up the entire order on one room and we confirmed CS credits before they pressed total. Some CM's rang up 3 meals on one card and 3 meals on another card. It made no difference to me. I never had a problem and used ALL of our credits. Most of the CM's are very helpful and if you explain, they understand where you are coming from.

Let me say that my DH sat with 3 of the children at a table. It was the best place for him. I went on line with everyone's choices and my oldest child and purchased the meals. I usually wrote down all of my CS meals on a napkin before I got to the register so that I could make ordering easier and make sure that I had all of the parts of the CS meals.

The one time my DH ordered without me was when he took a child back to the room and he told the CM, "my wife usually does this, I have the dining plan, are these snacks? She was very helpful and kind to him.

You shouldn't worry as you will be fine. Both of you do not need to be on line with the children. The DDP has been a wonderful plan for our family, I hope that it is for your as well. Good Luck!
