We're planning a trip in 10/08 for my husband, myself and 2 kids, ages 6 and 2 (at the time of the trip). We're going to do the 6 nights and do the ddp. Can you estimate how much we'll probaly have to pay out of pocket for extra food? I read somewhere that there are stores you can purchase some food at to keep in your hotel room or whatnot? Is that true? Are refrigerators available in the Pop Century? I'd love to be able to keep some basic foods in our room as well as maybe a case of water.

thanks!!!

It's possible you may not need to buy anything extra. We just got back from 7 nights with 1 kid, DD6, and had a cs and 8 snack credits leftover. Our plan of attack included "snack" breakfasts in the room while we got ready, late breakfast character buffets, midday snacks and 7pm cs dinners. We did this 5 of our 7 mornings.

I packed some cereal bars, fruit leather and milks that didn't have to be refridgerated (Horizon brand from Whole Foods Market, just pop them in the fridge when you unpack). I bought disposable rectangular containers so I could pack the food in my suitcase and not worry that it would be crushed.

Snack credits can be used at the resort food court/grab & go market for fruit which is also a good morning/late evening snack in the room.

The only thing you might have to purchase is milk/juice for the kids. Buffets are a great value when you have a child under paying age. They eat free.

Enjoy your stay.

The case of water is a great idea, I think it had been written that you can rent a fridge @ Pop or any value for that matter for $10/day (I don't know if that is the current price though).

I found that while we've used the dining plan twice, we really did not need to purchase extra food. The first time we paid oop for some counter service meals as my DS was only 2yo then, we ended up with sooo many to go containers for our leftovers it was ridiculous.

Then the second time we really just bought water oop, instead of using our snack credits for that. Otherwise I think you will be just fine, and BTW my DH was a very big eater/drinker then, but this time will be totally different, as he has had the gastric bypass surgery, so I know having enough will definitely not be an issue.

Forgot about the water issue. We are from SoCal and drink bottled water here, but found the water from soda fountains in WDW to be fine. We brought a 1/2 gallon bottle and holder with strap and used that to keep water with us. At the resort we asked for water cups and used them to fill up the water jug so we'd have water at night. In the parks, any food establishment with a soda fountain will give you a cup of ice water free of charge. We didn't find the need to purchase water bottles at all.

To us the water tasted gross:scared: . When we drive we pack some room snacks for early morning and after we come home for the evening. I have three boys, they are always eating:confused3 . When we fly, we use gardengrocer.com, they will deliver to your room. you can also use some snack credits and get doughnuits, milk, fruit and bread

We had cereal, granola bars, etc in our room for breakfast. I also had some travel snacks for the kids to put in their bags for during the day. We also had bottles of water with the single drink things to use when refilling the bottles as we agree that the water is nasty! We did discover that you can get free ice water at all CS sites to use to refill the bottles. It works really well if you have the wide topped bottles the ice even fits in the bottle. We could have done without the snacks as we had a CS meal for lunch and a TS meal for supper. At the end we had all our snack credits left.
