We are renting points and would like to add the DDP and I have a few questions.

What is the price of the dinnig plan per adult per child and is tax added on to the plan price?

How do I pay for the dining plan?

If one option is at check in, can I actually pay earlier (my parents will probably beat us to the resort and will check in, if possible, before us and I am the one who will be paying for the dining so I don't want them to worry about it)?

About checking in...my "sponsor" sent me my confirmation letter and only my name is listed on it (but 7 guests are noted), but she assured me that the other people in our party are on the reservation. Can one of my parent's check in to the villa or is it only the one listed?

Thanks for any and all help!!!!!!!!!!!

The Dining Plan must be paid for at arrival. It cannot be paid in advance. You will need to add the Dining Plan via the member you are working with. You will not be able to add it yourself. Magical Express must be added in the same fashion.

As long as your parents are listed on the reservation, they will be allowed to check in without your presence. it sounds as though the reservation is in your name. Since it mentions a total of 7 guests, those names will also be on the reservation (but just not printed on the confirmation letter).

Enjoy your stay! :)

You really need to talk to your sponsor. We can offer all kinds of advice, but it really is your sponsors job. If they don't do their job, it doesn't matter what we say.

Actually, the "sponsor" has no voice in the DVC policies that the OP is asking about. The Dining Plan must be paid at arrival and only those listed on the reservation will be allowed to check in at the resort with proper photo ID.

None of the questions asked are decided by the "sponsor" they are all WDW policies and are certainly fair questions to ask on the DIS. :)

To clarify, if your parents arrive at the resort, and check-in before you do, they will need to pay for the DDP at that time. First person to check-in has to pay for the DDP for all. You might want to send a pre-paid Visa or MC along to pay for your share, or make other arrangements with your folks in advance.

See that was what I was trying to work around. I would love to be able to call the front desk during our layover and pay by credit card before my parents got there, but it seems that is not possible. I was just trying to see if there were any other options besides paying on check in. Thanks for all the help.

PS I understand that my "spnsor" has to add the plan in advance or our arrival. I am only asking these questions about the inner workings here because most here are knowledgable on the rules and our "sponsor" has not used the dining plan before so other than setting it up she doesn't know much else about it.

No, unfortunately, the resorts no longer take CC info over the phone. Many years ago, you could call up to two days ahead and give them your CC info, and they had an "Members Express Check-in." Your room would have been pre-assigned and you only needed to stop at an express desk, show your ID, and pick-up your packet. I assume because of privacy concerns and ID theft, they discontinued this in the mid 1990s.

Your parents could wait until you arrive to check-in, as the room may not be ready for occupancy anyway, but personally I like to check-in when ASAP and hope there is a room ready.

But if they check-in first, they'll need to pay the DDP and you'll need to make payment arrangements with them. Or send a pre-paid CC or Disney Gift Card with them. DVC Member Services doesn't have the financial software to take pre-payments and apply to your account like the regular Disney resorts, since the rooms are paid for in points, not cash. Even "Member Cash" rooms are paid for at check-in, not pre-paid.

Can I just go to any Disney Store and buy a Disney Gift Card for the amount needed to cover the DDP. From other research I believe the price is 39.99 for adults and 10.99 for kids in 2009. So for 4 adults and 2 kids the price will be ~$1275. Do they even let you put that much on a Disney gift card.

Thanks again for any and all help.

I don't know if there is a limit on the Disney gift card, or not. If so, I would assume you could buy multiple cards. The gift card from the Disney Store should work at the resort, but be sure and ask at the Disney Store, as I have not used one. The prices you gave are correct for 2009.
