Can you order the Chefs special if you are on the DDP??? What about side dishes??? You only get a steak there can you get a side on the plan??? Thanks!!

yes, you can order the chef's special (comes with app, entree & dessert) on the DDP but they do not allow any subsitutions at all-- you have to order exactly what's on the list. So for example, you cannot order the famouse mushroom filet on the chef's special because it's not on the list.

But if you want to order ala carte, you choose an entree (including the mushroom filet), a dessert (like the whiskey cake or the maple creme brulee) and a beverage. All tables get a basket of the famous bread sticks (soft bread, not hard sticks) Each entree comes with some sort of side like mashed potatoes or rice.

Even though there are no substitutions for the menu items, the servers don't care who actually eats them. Since my son wanted the chicken that's on the Chef's Plan, he got a salad that I ended up eating. He wanted a smores, which wasn't on the list, so I ordered that and he gave me his creme brulee. Les Chefs, by the way, has a similar set meal that is now offered to DDP.

That's good news -- when did Le Chefs make this change? We were there in January 2009 and it wasn't available on the dining plan then. We loved the appetisers there on the dxDDP (french onion soup if outstanding) but won't be doing DxDDP again. But we would like to be able to get it on the regular dining plan with a Chef's menu choice when we're there in May.

I'd like to know about the Chefs too - I'm going to get the French Onion Soup and will pay OOP if need be - but would get the chefs meal if it was included on DDP.

When was this? This past Sept the French menu was specifically excluded from the DDP and there have been several posts since then that it was excluded. It will be great if they've changed their minds.:cool1:

I think i am doing Deluxe......when i get cheese soup as my appetizer will it be a cup or a bowl?

The soup at Le Cellier was good-sized. I would call it a bowl. I was pleasantly surprised to see the DDP icon on the Chef's Special at Les Chefs. Two entrees NOT included are beef filet and duck. I ended up with a big serving of french onion soup for my appetizer-really good! I don't know when this was added for the dining plan. We ate there last Thursday night.

Thanks TinkGirl! Hey we are staying at POR for 1st time in April. We can't wait!!!

When did that change at Les Chefs? I was there in Sept 08 and it was not allowed. Nor did they allow my SIL last month.

This is the first report noted that Chefs allows ordering a three course fixed price menu on the basic DDP. Chefs has in the past always excluded its three course fixed price menu. Sounds like a policy change, will be looking for more reports.
