I have not done the DDP with children yet. Usually, when we go to a restaurant, my 3 year old does not eat much of anything, so my two girls share a child's meal. I think on the DDP, if I understand correctly, I have to get both of them a meal. Does this mean I just have to deal with the wasted food?

No. You don't have to order a meal for each of them at each sitting but unless you have signature meals planned OR more TS meals than credits anyway, you may as well order them each a meal at TS. So there may be some waste. That way they'd each get their beverage, they may nibble on something and they could each choose a dessert. You'll need to use a credit for each of them at buffets and fixed price meals anyway. That holds true if they eat a chicken strip or an entire tray of them (And whether you are on the DDP or not).

As far as CS goes, you can absolutely order ONE child's meal and have them share it. And I'd suggest that- one at breakfast, one at lunch :o)

You have to pay for her DDP, 11.00/day I think but you can choose to order her meal or not.Perhaps get two different meals and let the girls have a little of each.

I had a similar problem.

My 12 year old son cannot eat everything on what you get for food on the ADULT counter service so in this case he just ordered snacks or ordered a "kids" meal and it got counted as an "ADULT" serving. Same goes for the table service as well

In the end we ended up NOT using one of our counter services, a lot of food got wasted, and Dad (me) ended up eating a lot more than I wanted or needed. Good thing we walked about 10 miles per day. LOL!

The problems folks have had in the past should be no longer be a problem, soon, if that is not already the case, since folks can no longer either deliberately or inadvertently use child credits for adult meals.

I'm sorry..this is probably my fault...but I am totally not following you. how does using child meals as adult meals help me? I have come to the realization I have to buy DDP for both of my children even though they usually share a meal. If you are implying I was going to use my child's credit for my own benefit I was not planning to, so that can be saved for another thread.

As for everyone else, thanks for your help. When I step back and look at the big picture, I realize that at roughly $11.00 a day it is not that big of a deal. And they can sample some different foods. It's only a week, and we will be fine. Glad to hear of your experiences, thanks! :thumbsup2

That is a good idea!!

I don't think bicker was implying that at all. Rather, I think he was implying that, before the separation of credits, the restaurants would assume that's why you were making the request for the kids to share, and they might not let you do it.

But now that the credits are split, and any banking of kids' meals would result not in a windfall for the parents but in a bunch of unused kids' meal credits, the restaurants shouldn't have any problems with your request. Good luck and have fun!

Why don't the kids eat? - have they been snacking and are just not hungry?

They must eat sometime, I don't understand this. :confused3

No, I mean they don't eat that much. When we go out to eat, I can split one child's meal down the middle easily. I usually do that, and just pay for an extra drink. My three year old is the worst of the two. I just hate paying all that money and watching it all get thrown away.

But really, it's okay. I've chosen not to stress about it. It's VACATION! woo hoo! :cool1:

That's good! it's really not that bad when you think about it - 77.00 a child for a counter service, table service and snack for your holiday - even if you don't order all the food. Snacks alone can be 3.00 - 4.00 each.

Rather, the fact that the information systems have been updated so you can no longer use child credits for adult meals -- that's what helps you. Now, that Disney no longer needs to worry about that abuse, it makes things easier for everyone who was following the rules all along. That was one of the most insidious things about that abuse: It sometimes forced CMs to not allow some things, which people should have been allowed to do.

Yup! That's exactly it!

No problem. It surely isn't the clearest of points I made. :)
