I'm actually considering going with the DDP for our Christmas stay this year. A question - how does the DDP work in conjunction with the CP dinner packages? Also, please confirm - I understand we can add DDP to our DVC points reservation and that has nothing to do with our tickets. Also, what level of the plan can we get (I hope we can get the basic plan at $38/person/night).

You use them just as you would any other form of payment. When we did CP last year, we made the ressies, and at payment time, just used our DDP credit to pay. It costs however many credits the restaurant of choice charges. Of course, that assumes that the restaurant is part of the DDP.

You are correct that you don't need to purchase tickets to get the DDP if you're staying on points. We did the CLP package last December, when I made the reservation for it, we weren't planning to get the DDP but we ended up getting it 2 weeks before we went. No problem using the DDP with the package :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure the upper tier dining packages for the CP would count as 2 ts meals used per person.

Only if the restaurant you choose is also a 2 credit place.

And since there are no restaurants at Epcot that are two credits, it would indeed be just one.

We did it last year on the basic plan and dined at Tutto.

But I wonder if it will be an option this year for the basic plan since the CP package has always included an appetizer. Appetizers are no longer included with the basic DDP.

WolfpackFan, the basic and deluxe plans are available for DVC as well as the wine add on.

Are Bistro de Paris and Coral Reef only one credit? I've never gotten out of either of these for under $125.00 with just DW and myself, with no adult drinks.

Bistro de Paris isn't a DDP restaurant.

Coral Reef is just one credit.:thumbsup2 So is Tutto which is also expensive.

Thanks, we have never done DDP because it is rare if we eat as much as $40.00 per person per day. Our last trip I kept track just to compare and we averaged about $24.00 per person per day.

I would keep an eye on the boards for info though. Since the appetizer is no longer included in the basic DDP but has always been included in the CP package, I wonder what will happen this year.

It could be that the basic plan won't include the CP package. Or maybe the appetizer will come off the package for everyone but I would think that would tick off locals. Or maybe it will just continue as it was in the past with the basic including everything the CP package usually does. Time will tell. At least with DVC, we can all add or subtract the plan until 48 hours before checkin.
