ddp and CP--can we combine TS credits?

we are staying at a WDW resort for 1 night to attend CP. There are 4 adults. If we get the Regular dining plan, can we combine the 4 TS credits to pay for 2 CP packages. Only 2 persons are doing CP, the other 2 are dining at the same place, same time (they usually put us at the same table when we tell them) and would pay OOP for their dinners. I know we could all get the deluxe plan, but we will not use the other meal credits.

are you asking if you can transfer credits? your wording is confusing to me.

there will be 4 of us (all on the DDP) sitting at one table. 2 persons will have the CP package, 2 will not. In years past, they always seat us together and just bring us one check at the end and take off 4 TS ( 2 each for 2 persons), but we were staying multiple ights and had many TS available. However, this year, we are only staying 1 night, so will only have 4 TS total for our party--1 for each person in the room. Can we combine all 4 TS to pay for 2 CP and then just pay the other non-CP meals OOP?

All TS credits for each reservation are pooled on one card. You will have no problem using one card with four credits to pay for two CP packages.

Yes, they are pooled but since they only have 1 night, can they do this since technically it s/b 1 TS per person and they can't be transferred. I recall some asking if they could use their TS credits for someone else like having 5 at the table and only 4 on the plan and being told they can't do this. Maybe I'm just thinking into this too much.

I think you are thinking into it too much.

You posted two separate situations.

1) In the OP's case they are using credits from the "credit pool" to which they, legitimately, have access. It doesn't actually matter if the other two people in the room are at the table or not.

2) In the case you detailed, the fifth person would be attempting to use a credit from a "credit pool" to which they did not legitimately have access. The DDP rules state that you cannot use your credits to treat people not on your plan.

it is very confusing. My parents go to the CP and we do not. WDW requires us to make 2 separate reservations--one for 2 persons for CP and another reservation for 2 persons regular dining. Then, when we get to the restuarant, we tell them what's up--the restaurant understands the deal, seats us together and gives us one bill for all 4 persons.
In our case, everyone is on the DDP from the same room---I assumed they would just take off the 4 TS credits and then we could pay OOP for the other meals--but didn't know if they would insist on one TS per person--which then makes getting the DDP useless for this trip, as 2 persons are going to CP. which now requires 2 TS.
We are not trying to use DDP for someone not on the DDP.

Yes, that's my thinking as well. If it were for 2 nights you wouldn't have a problem but with the 1 night, I don't know. I know all have the plan and the TS are pooled but I just know know how they actually enforce the rules. I gave an example with an extra person, I guess it really wasn't a good one just something that I recalled. Did you ask the CM when making the reservation? Are you buying the DDP for the 1 night? I assume so since for FD I thought you had to book 3 nights. Can you get the room discount and just pay for the CP? Just trying to think of other ideas.

we are staying at DVC and buying DDP. We can pay OOP or get DXDDP, but really just wanted to get the regular DDP for the night. I will call WDW and ask.

Disneyfan55, I'm sorry to say this but you are wrong in this instance. The OP will be fine with the situation as described above.

The DDP is per reservation. It's similar to people who have a 10 day reservation, and half the party is only there for 7 days. The people that are there for the extra three days have free access to all credits from the moment that they check in.

The DDP card doesn't say one night stay only, only let these people use 1 credit per person. The DDP card says 4 Adult TS credits available. It's up to those staying in the room to use the credits as they choose.

(Likewise - If she and her husband were on the reservation, had two credits available, they'd have no problem going to Jiko and paying for one meal with the DDP and one meal OOP)

Right. This, exactly. Each room key will say "4 A" or "4 Adult" in relation to the dining plan. No specific number of nights, that's not the concern of the restaurant.

Because credits are pooled among age groups, the OP will easily be able to do as they write - use the DDP credits for the CP diners and pay out of pocket for the dinner-only diners. Simply tell the server when first approached, "We need separate checks, please. These two meals are on the dining plan, and these two meals are cash.".

The credits on the cards are pooled for that reservation. They are not split up by person. Anyone listed on a room reservation can use the credits in any combination (except mixing adult/child credits). There's no rule that each person has to specifically use the credits allocated for them.

All the OP has to do is tell the server that they're on the dining plan, and using credits for the CP package, and their parents are not on the package and are not paying with the dining plan, and get the checks split.
