DDE with DDP

My husband and I will be trying the DDP for the first time on our upcoming trip. We have used DDE in the past and are considering pruchasing that in addition to the DDP. From what I have been able to find out it seems that you are able to use the DDE for a discount on OOP items such as wine while using a TS credit.

Does anyone have any recent experience with combining the two at one meal (i.e. was it a hassle, etc)?

Also, what is the average time recently for receiving the card (we leave 4/29)?

I understand that if our card does not arrive in time we can pick up a temporary card at guest relations in Epcot. Is this actually a card or is it a letter like I received via email last year?

You don't really "combine" the two, since if you're on the Dining Plan and have some OOP items, you're going to get separate checks, no matter what. So you're really just applying DDE to that OOP check, and yes, you're able to do so.

It's easy to do. Just let the server know up front so they can enter things correctly into the computer and not have to spend time re-doing it after the meal.

Since you're in NY, I assume you're an AP holder rather than a FL resident? The DDE card will run you $65, so just make sure you'd be buying enough DDE-qualified food OOP to make it worthwhile. Then you're off and running!

We just returned from a trip where we used our DDE and the DDP (for the first time). Using the two cards really saved us a lot of money. For example, we had dinner with some relatives at Flying Fish, and the savings with the DDE card for dinner for 6 more than paid for the card. (DH and I paid for the whole check - we weren't trying to cheat the system by letting anyone else use our discount card.) We also used the DDE card for a couple of character breakfasts - we didn't want to use the dining plan for those, since those credits are generally more valuable for dinner than breakfast.

We have used the two togeter, no problem at all, we did let the server known. On a few poccasion I did wonder if we were getting better service due to having the DDE card
