I am confused about the Disney Dining Discounts. I take it there are 2 of them. I am a DVC member but NOT an AP holderpor Florida Resident. Does that mean I cannot use the DDE card. If I can which is better? We have a # of character meals plus Hoop Dee Doo already schedueled so does that mean I can call Disney back and not have to prepay for Hoop Dee Doo? Thanks!

I only know of one discount card - the DDE card. You would either have to be a Florida resident or an AP holder to get DDE.

I was looking at the FAQ on the Dining Plan at the beginning of this thread.

For the dining plan you must be on a package which includes room (paying either Rack or AAA Discount rate), MYW tickets of the same type and duration for each person on the reservation, and the dining plan for all members of the party for the number of nights of the reservation.

Persons staying on DVC points or any discount other than AAA do not qualify.

People who have APs and do not purchase MYW tickets do not qualify.

To be eligible for a DDE membership you must be either an Annual Passholder or a Florida Resident (or both).

If you are staying on DVC points, are not a Florida Resident and also not an Annual Passholder you do not qualify for any discounted dining.

However, as a DVC member you can get a discount of more than $100 on an AP. You only need one person over 18 to have an AP to qualify for purchasing DDE.

Seems like the DVC card gets you soem discounts.
I have DVC friends who received a dinner discount at Bongo's, where they did not honor the DDE or AP discount.
But any DVC discounts a DVC holder should be aware of.

But there are a few Dining discounts availabe to all DVC members by showing their membership card at participating restaurants. You will receive a current list upon check-in at a DVC resort, as some are seasonal.

The DDE discount is usually superior to the DVC discount, but there are a few that are DVC exclusive...like the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin and Bongos. Hours will vary, some DVC discounts are only for lunch or dinner. Most are 10%, some are more.
